GROWER NELSON Nee GRANT was next up for membership for Earth's Muttiest Hero Hounds, aka THE AVENGING HOUNDS, but her story is more complicated than first thought.

As a young pup Miss Growler Grant fell in love and married her Sweet heart, Police Officer Will-hound Nelson. Theirs was a happy marriage until one day he was gunned down and killed by a group of Dirty Cops calling themselves THE BRETHREN of the BLUE PAWS.
Widowed so young, Growler had to find employment to survive. She got a job as a Lab assistant to a Doctor Jaw-Anne Tummi-rollo. Dr Tummi-rollo was trying to develop a process that would allow a female Canine-being to attain her full Physical and Mental potential.

However, In desperate need of funding, DR Tummi-rollo accepted funding from a very shady character, Mutt-colm Doggalbain. Doggalbain saw the potential of what the scientist was developing as a possible weapon that he could use. He imagined that if successful he could have his own army of Bitch Warriors, ready to do his bidding.
Not trusting the good Doctor, Doggalbain provided his own subject for testing, Miss Curlee Bry-hunt. However, the good Doctor unhappy that she had been forced and coerced into accepting Curlee, so Dr Tummi-rollo also asked Growler as her own test subject...... but this was to be their secret.

| THE 2ND SET OF SECRET TESTS WITH GROWLER |
After weeks and months of tests and treatments, both Curlee and Growler both developed enhanced abilities. Doggalbain, invited The Doctor to come to own head office, and was told to bring no-one except Curlee. Still Doggalbain knew nothing about Growler other than she was Dr Tummi-rollo's lab assistant.
Arriving at Doggalbain's offices, both Dr Tummi-rollo and Curlee were taken to a secret part of the building. The facility was full of copies of Dr Tummi-rolls inventions. Some of the Machines had been improved on by Doggalbain's own technical team.

Only now happy with Dr Tummi-rollo's work did Doggalbain tell her what he planned to do with the end result.. He explained that now he could build his own army of super powered bitches, to do his bidding. He had secretly had special costumes made for his new army, the costumes resembled the look of felines.... These costumes came with built in weapons, like razor sharp claws in the gloves and boots..... the masks gave the wearer enhanced vision and hearing.. When Curlee put on her costume she became the first of his Canine Cat Bitches.

BUT Mutt-colm Doggalbain felt that he granting such power to anyone could give them the upper hand against everyone, even him, so in order to have complete control over his new army, he had had a special Cat Collar developed that once placed around the neck, who allow him to menially control his Canine Cat Bitches.
Dr Tummi-rollo was horrified of Doggalbain's plans for her research, and by the use of the slave collars. She pleaded with him not to use them, as she felt that her process would be effected if the subjects free-will would be removed.
Things did not go a well as Mutt-colm had wanted, in a test of Curlee's new found skills, she fell and was killed..... Dr Tummi-rollo blamed the slave collar.... but MUTT-COLM informed the Doctor that she either helped him further, or he would have her killed, which was fine with him, as he now had her techniques and equipment, and could build his own army with or without her. Reluctantly, Dr Tummi-rollo had to accept her fate. He sent her back to her own Lab to await further orders.
However, Doggalbain had decided that he needed to get rid of Curlee's body and anything that could lead the Police to him, so he decided to stage an accident. He told his men to destroy Dr Tummi-rollo's laboratory by the use of explosives. Thus the resulting fire would destroy any evidence, along with the dead body and kill the good Doctor, He knew he did not need her anymore, and he could not trust her to do his bidding. The police would think it was a lab accident, and this would leave Mutt-colm to continue his work elsewhere in peace.
Growler had secretly followed the Doctor and had over heard the plan, but before she could return and save her friend Dr Tummi-rollo, the lab was destroyed, along with all the evidence. Growler found the Doctor's body, believing her dead went off to avenge her and Curlee.
Sneaking back into the secret facility, Growler put on one of the Canine-cat suits which she would use to strike terror into Doggalbain before having him brought to justice. She destroyed all of Doggalbain's equipment that he had copied from Dr Tummi-rollo, along with all of the research. Also she destroyed all of the Canine - Cat suits, except of the one she was wearing. Removing the Doggalbain's emblem from the front, Growler began her hunt.
