Yesterdays Heroes Once More Part Seventy One .............. Inside the Hotel

 The Doctor and his team had managed to sneak into the hotel unseen with the aid of  the Taxi Drivers daughter  Dora. They had ended  up in an area that was a reception room where all the Hotel Staff would have used each day to clock on and off.  It was very Lucky for the Four some the area was empty, but staying there was not a option as sooner or later one of the Hotel Staff would be either come this way.

Before moving away, the Doctor whispered to Reggie. He nodded and the mechanical  mutt  re locked the door, so that if anyone tried the door handle it would be assumed it had not been opened.  

Dora had told the group what she knew about this part of the Hotel from the time she had sneaked in herself. There was a long corridor that lead off of it. Dora had said that along the corridor a number of doors were situated. She only knew that one of them went to the Laundry  Room, and another to the Kitchen Area. Both of which had service elevators that lead to the floors about, this included and the Top Floor on which the Impossibles Suite was situated.

With the Entrance  Door now secured the Four Some went off down the corridor as quickly as they could in case they ended up being spotted by a member of staff. 

Now thought the Doctor how could they move about the hotel, but three strange men and a dog would if spotted, would raise questions. What they needed was a disguise.

As they set off the Doctor put his hand on Jack's shoulder.

"How are you holding up ?" He asked "  You were very quiet in the car " he added

Jack just looked ahead and replied "Yes, this a strange land you brought me too, I thank you for the experience " he whispered

Both Phooey and Reggie were a few steps in front of the Doctor and Jack, Phooey doing his unusual signature  Kung Fun pose and he walked ahead. whilst Reggie bounded along trying to keep up.

 With both of  them looking  at the signs of the many doors along the corridor. Reggie to Left and Phooey to the Right it help speed up the process.  Then Phooey stopped.

" I found the Laundry " Phooey whispered 

"Good Work Penry !" replied the Doctor with a smile.

The sign on the door did say LAUNDRY, but the paper one hanging on the handle was even more exciting. This read " Gone to Lunch, Back at 3.00pm.

Then Phooey opened the door at faction and seeing the coast was clear. It was.  The room was in complete darkness. Phooey then said to Reggie " Can you help me find the light switch ?"

Reggie nodded and and his eyes lit up like a couple of search lights.

 Within seconds he located the light switches and  Phooey turned them on.

 They entered quickly followed by  the Doctor and Jack. Once they were all inside  Phooey closed the door.

"JackPot " said the Doctor in an excitable manner. The room was full of washing machines and dryers. There was piles of all sorts of items that were used in every day life. Sheets, Table Cloths, napkins... all washed and pressed ready for use. There where many laundry baskets on wheels full of dirty items too.  The smell of the clean washing was over powering. 

" We have 40 Minuets until anyone comes back " said the Doctor looking at his pocket watch.

Then the  Doctor looked around  the rather largish room looking for something to use as a disguise. He then  noticed a large cupboard, he opened it.

"Bingo" he exclaimed. The Cupboard contained all sorts of clothing that were used by the staff. Surely there would be something that he and his team could use to disguise themselves as they moved about the Hotel.    

Then Jack who had gone further along the room came back with another sign in his hand. 

"What does this say ? " he said to the Doctor handing him the sign.

The sign read " Laundry Elevator Out of Service "

The Doctor's Hearts Sunk, both of them. This would mean they needed to find another way to get up to the Top Floor.

Possibly through the Kitchen he thought. 

" Reggie you go with Jack and try to find the Kitchen, whilst Penry and I find us  some disguises. " Said the Doctor. 

"Be careful and don't get spotted " added Phooey 

Reggie and Jack departed, whilst  the Doctor rummaged through  cupboard  containing the Staff Uniforms. He pulled out a few items  to  show Phooey.

" These look your size " He said holding up  a Bell Boys Uniform to show Phooey. 

" I like the colour " Phooey said inspecting them. Then the Doctor went back into the Cupboard

"Yours comes with a Hat" added the Doctor holding up a small red and gold hat that matched the uniform. " As does mine" the Doctor added.

Phooey looked up to see that the Doctor was now wearing a white Chefs hat. He giggled to himself.

The Doctor and Phooey quickly put the uniforms over their existing clothes, both looked at each other. They now looked just like any normal employee of the Hotel. Phooey was dressed as a Bell Boy whilst the Doctor was dressed as a Chef. 

"How do I look ?" asked Phooey

"Splendid my dear Boy !" replied The Doctor

"What about me ?" The Doctor inquired

" Fantastic" said Phooey with a giggle

Both of them then paraded about the room in their new clothes.

Then as the Doctor was about to back into the cupboard again looking for a disguise for Jack & Reggie the door to the room was flung opened and in came the other two of the team pushing food trolleys.

"Diner is served" announced Reggie 

" Quickly Close the door " Barked Jack "I think some ones coming" he added

Phooey quickly closed the door as fast as he could, 

Jack then explained they had found the Kitchen and the service elevator.  The Kitchen was 5 doors down on the right, and the service elevator was situated just inside the door. He continued that Reggie had suggested that they could use the food trolleys as a way of transporting two of the team. 

Under the top cloth of each trolley was a shelf that was just big enough for one of the to sit or lay on.

The Doctor liked the idea, as he had not yet found anything that could disguise Dyno Mutt convincingly.  Time was ticking on and soon the staff from the laundry would be returning. As Phooey and the Doctor were already dressed it made sense that they pushed the Trolleys whilst the other two hid underneath.

But before Jack and Reggie took up their places under the food trolleys, Reggie showed Phooey and the Doctor something else he had done. 

"I wondered why I could smell burning " said the Doctor as he examined Reggie's handy work.

" I found this too hanging on a hook in the Kitchen " said Reggie handing a large silver key. It was one of the Universal Keys that could open any guests room. The Doctor smiled and patted the Mechanical Mutt. 

With that Jack and Reggie climbed under the food trolleys. Then quickly the Doctor and Phooey pushed the trolleys out of the Laundry and  along the corridor towards where they now knew the Kitchen was located.

Arriving outside the correct door they entered pushing the trolleys. The Kitchen was very busy, and no one seemed to take any notice of Phooey or the Doctor. Spotting the Elevator they rushed over to it. Phooey pushed the Call Button and the Doors opened. Getting inside Phooey pushed the button with the highest number on it..  The doors closed and the elevator began to move upwards.

For what happens next come back next time when we will find out if the Team finally get to meet the Impossibles and what had Reggie done to the trolleys !!!

Yesterdays Heroes Once More Part Seventy ............... Catching a Ride

 After a short walk the foursome came upon the Taxi Rank that Phooey & Jack had located earlier.

There was only one cab there. A man that the Doctor assumed was the driver was leaning against a lamp post reading a news paper.

The Doctor walked up to the man and said " Good Day my good man, are you able to take me and my party to Candlestick Park ?"

The man looked up folded his Newspaper placed it underneath his arm and smiled " Sure Mac, is it just you 3 and your pooch ?" he replied 

The doctor nodded.

Then the taxi driver usher the four towards his Cab. The Doctor got in the front seat whilst Jack, Phooey and Reggie got into the back.

"Candlestick Park you said ? " Said the Cab Driver looking at the Doctor.

The Doctor nodded and smiled.

"Well its not far, but at this time of day  with the mid day traffic it will take about an hour. Its that ok with you" The Cab Driver continued as he started the engine and pull away from the curb.

"That is fine", said the Doctor as he knew they had plenty of time.

" By the way my name is Duke Bill, but my friends call me Duck" said the Taxi Driver introducing himself as drove towards their chosen location. 

The Doctor getting the Joke smiled and said , "They call me The Doctor, and these are my son's Jack and Penry." He said pointing behind. " And we call our Pooch Reggie" he then added.

Phooey and Jack both said hello to Duck.

" Mighty strange accent you have there Jack " said Duck realizing that both of The Doctor's son's sounded different from each other. 

" He spends a lot of his time in Hawaii surfing " said the Doctor, "You know how the young folk pick up the local accent" the Doctor added. The Doctor knew that Jack's Japanese Accent could be a problem, whilst Phooey's Accent was more mid american and would not raise any eye brows.

" And you come from Australia ?" Duck asked the Doctor

"Yes " fibbed the Doctor. 

"And Penry talks like he comes from Indiana ?" Duck then said

Before the Doctor could reply Phooey said "Yes, I was born in Terre Haute, Indiana" 

"You sound like my wife's cousin, he comes from The Wabash Valley" laughed Duck

Phooey smiled to himself, he was also from that area.

As Duck continued driving he struck up a conversation with the Doctor, whilst Phooey, Jack and Reggie looked out of the windows. This was Jack's first ever ride in a Taxi. To tell the truth it was his first journey in a motor car. At first he found the experience a little bit unnerving.  Reggie could see that Jack looked uneasy put a paw on Jack's knee to reassure him. Jack then patted  Reggie as a way of saying thank you. 

The traffic was starting to build up as Duck had though, so he decided to take a more scenic route. He asked the Doctor if it would be ok to go off route, the Doctor said it was not an issue just as long as they got to Candlestick Park. 

Duck then asked the Doctor why he was wanting to go to Candlestick park as at this time of day it would be closed.

The Doctor replied that he was hoping to see someone there.

"You mean them Impossible guys ? " Duck laughed.

"Yes" replied the Doctor a little surprised that Duck had heard of them.

Duck pulled over to the curb and stopped the engine, then he turned to the Doctor and said

"Well they was there this morning doing some preparation for their concert tonight, but returned to their hotel to rest up for later and do some interviews" Duck explained.  He reached into his top pocket and pulled out his wallet. He opened it and took out a photograph and showed it to the Doctor. It showed a young girl smiling.

"My Daughter, Dora. She says she is their number one fan.... even started dressing like them" smiled Duck. "she knows all about them and that they are doing today. Told me all about it over breakfast. She has been more or less camping out side their swanky Hotel for days now. Only comes home to sleep and eat .  Driving her Mother crazy."  said Duck shaking his head.

"They wont be back at the stadium  until 6 this evening" Duck added.

The Doctor looked at the clock on the dash board of the Taxi Cab. It was only just a few minutes after 1.00 pm.  He knew that securing the Impossibles help was their main priority,  but to waste time waiting at the Venue would not be good.

Duck agreed to take them to the Hotel where they were staying if they wanted him to,  but unfortunately the Hotel was in the opposite  direction to were they were travelling in at the moment, it was more or less in the area they has started off at earlier that day down by the Bay.

With the Doctor's agreement Duck restarted the engine and pulled away from the curb and sped off in the opposite direction.

It took a while but soon Duck pulled up opposite the Hotel. There was a small crowed of girls standing outside, one of which was Duck's daughter Dora. She was dressing like on of the Band and was waving a big sign.

Duck wound down his cars window and shout out " Dor !" whilst he pumped the cars horn.

Dora hearing her name came running over to the cab to see see here Father.  She was then introduced to the Doctor , and then Duck asked her if  the Impossibles were still in the hotel. She said they were and had the Penthouse suite on the top floor of the hotel. The Doctor said he needed to see them urgently.

Dora explained that unfortunately the Hotel had hired extra security to stop fans from getting into the hotel, and no one except guests could enter via the front doors.  She had noticed that some of the Media had been turned earlier in the day away as they did not have an appointment to meet the Group. If the Doctor and his party did not have an appointment they would not be able to get inside, let alone meet the Impossibles.

Duck said Dora had told him she had sneaked  into the Hotel a few days ago, but had been caught before she had had a chance of meeting her heroes.

Dora said she had entered via a door at the side of the Hotel, that lead onto the Kitchen and Laundry areas.  The door had been left unlocked and had not been guarded at the time. The Doctor then thanked Duck for his services and asked him what they owed for the Cab Ride. 

"On the house" said Duck "Just if you do get to meet the Group make sure you get my little Girl their John Handcocks" he laughed.

"John Handcocks ?" questioned a bemused Doctor.

" He means Autographs" explained Dora.

"Its a deal" said the Doctor shaking Ducks hand.

The Doctor asked Dora to show him where this door was, and after waving good bye to Duck she lead the Doctor and his party back across the road towards the Hotel.

" See that sign " said Phooey to Reggie whilst pointing at a sign over the door of the Hotel.

Reggie snorted in disgust " That means you too !" Reggie whispered back to Phooey so that Dora would not hear him.

"What does the sign say ?" asked  Jack who was still having problems reading English

"It says No Dogs Allowed"  said Phooey

" What do the other words say " Jack then asked

Looking the sign up and down Phooey sighed and said " You really would not want to know my Friend, You would not want to Know !"

Jack and Phooey followed Dora and the Doctor down the narrow alley. But Reggie sat down and looked at the sign. He knew what the words meant.

All he started to feel angry, he was not happy with the words.

 They were so wrong. He glanced either way. He was hidden from view. He starred  again at the sign.

His eyes started to glow.

They began to glow brighter and brighter ....

Until Red Lazer Beams emitted from them. They shot out towards the offensive sign.

There was a bright Red flash of light. 

Reggie felt that his whole body was on fire. He realized this was rage.

Reggie tried to calm himself, as he was worried he could over load his systems like he had done that day when he first met the Doctor. He felt his body start to cool down. He was going to be okay.  

Then Reggie look up at the sign. That's better he thought. Then composing himself he followed the others into the alley.

As he turned the corner into the alley to again glanced up at the sign..... That is much better he thought to himself.  He was not sure what the last bit meant, but remember that The Blue Falcon had said on many an occasion you cannot trust Solicitors.  So he decided to also remove that word too.  

Reggie soon caught up with the Doctor and the others. Dora had taken them along the  alley to the right side of the building.  Making sure they could not been seen and they kept to the shadows , Dora pointed further down the Alley.  There was the door she had mentioned,  but standing outside  it were  two men. 

"Security , one is called Carlos and the other is Ben.  Ben  was the one who caught me sneaking into the hotel a few days ago" She whispered.

The Doctor knew he needed a distraction that would make the Guards leave their post. He whispered into Dora's ear. She smiled and nodded.

Dora then walked down the alley and stopped in front of the two men guarding the door.

"You again!" said one of the men looking at Dora

" Is that the one you told me about Ben ? " said the other man.

"Yep,it is Carl.... found her hiding in one of the Laundry Baskets "  Ben replied.

Dora just smiled and winked waving her sign at him. Then as quick as a flash she threw the large sign towards both men and ran off further down the Alley laughing. Both men had been startled but not hurt. The sign was cardboard after all. But they were angry with the little Minx, so they both took off  after her leaving the door unguarded. 

Quickly the Doctor and team ran up to the door. The Doctor rattled the door knob, it was locked.

"Reggie" the Doctor said, and just like he had done on the pier Dyno-Mutt produced his skeleton key and opened the locked door. Whilst he was doing this The Doctor kept look out towards the main Street End of the Alley, Whilst  Jack and Phooey both took up the defensive posture looking towards the end the two security guards had chased after Dora. 

The lock was more tricky, but Reggie managed to unlock it. Quickly the team entered and Reggie re locked the door from inside.They had only made it by the skin of their teeth as they heard the hotel guards returning. They could see their shadows through the obscured glass in the door. 

They were both  annoyed as it sounded that Dora had given them the slip. One of them rattled the door handled to ensure that it was still locked. It looked like they managed to enter the Hotel unseen.

 The Doctor chuckled to himself, they had now gained access to the hotel. Now they needed to find the Impossibles.

Will they be able to meet with the Fab Three before they are discovered ? To find out tune in next time.

Yesterdays Heroes Once More Part Sixty Nine....... Raising Cash and Telling Stories

 The Group was now outside the Pawn Brokers Shop.  The Doctor  patted his jacket pocket and smiled.

The Doctor then asked Phooey and Jack to remain outside and see if they could locate the nearest Taxi Stand, whilst he went inside along with Reggie. There was a small bell hanging above the door that announced their entry into the shop. The Doctor looked around. The Shop was full of cabinets containing Jewelry and time pieces, On the Walls hang everything from Musical Instruments to Stuffed Animal Heads.... Paintings to Lavish Mirrors. All types of wonders.

The shop had long counters on three of its four walls, and behind one was an elderly man dressed in a white coat. 

" Good Afternoon " said the man standing behind the counter. " My name is Lou, Lou Greenberg,  How can I help you ?" he continued.

The Doctor and Reggie walked  up to the Counter 

"They call me the Doctor, and this is my Dog Reggie" The Doctor replied.

The Doctor explained that he had just arrived in the City and found he had mislaid his Wallet. He need some cash whilst he waited for his luggage to arrive at his hotel. The Doctor said  was wondering if he could trade or sell something to help his current financial embarrassment. Normally the Doctor preferred  not to  lie, but he wanted to come across as he was in genuine need to raise some cash. 

Lou, was impressed with The Doctor, especially his " English " Accent. 

"You a Britisher ?" Asked Lou

The Doctor realizing that he did have somewhat of an English accent nodded.

Whilst Lou and The Doctor were in conversation Reggie decided to have a look about the shop. On the Wall at the front of the shop was something that he did not like the look of. Some sort of Evil Looking Cats Head. 

Without thinking Reggie opened his mouth and let out a loud gasp. Realizing that he had nearly broken the rule of not speaking he disguised the sound making it into a couple of barks.

Lou looking at where Reggie was Barking said " That's ok Boy, That's just Old Felix. He won't bite. He has been guarding the Shop ever since I first started working here " 

He and the Doctor both laughed, whilst Reggie turned his back on the Fearful Creature and returned to the Doctor's side. The Doctor seeing how upset he looked patted him on his head for reassurance.

Then Lou asked the Doctor what he had in mind to trade, the Doctor reached into his right  jacket pocket and brought out a Blue handkerchief and laid it on the counter. 

He unwrapped it and showed its contents.

On seeing what was inside, Lou's  eye's widened and he smiled. The Hanky contained some Rings containing Gem Stones,  Broaches , Gold Coins and  ear rings. All of which looked very old to the store keeper. As the Doctor arranged his items on the Blue Hanky, Lou looked on.

"Oh Dear !" Exclaimed the Doctor " This should not be here" He continued pointing at a largish diamond like gem stone. 

"what is it ?"  Asked Lou

"Well " Said the Doctor rubbing his chin, "If you believe in Magic, this Gem Stone holds the life force and essence  of one of the most powerful Wizards that ever lived.  It was entrusted to me by one of the last surviving members of Court of King Arthur . Its not for sale"  Explained the Doctor.

"Can I see it ? Asked Lou. The Doctor Nodded

Looking at it through his eye glass Lou saw that the Gem was marked with what he believed was a M.

" I can see a M on it, M as in Merlin?"  Said Lou wide eyed

"So I believe" Nodded the Doctor.

"Well Doctor, you do tell a wonderful tale, do you have anymore ?" Smirked Lou handing the Gem back to the Doctor.

Lou said that all these items he was interested in, but there were two items that he really liked, and he wanted to own himself.

Looking at the contents of the Blue Hanky  reminded the Doctor of some of his many adventures. In turn he invited Lou to have a closer look at each item.  The Doctor started with.....

The  Twin Emerald Ring from his trip to Shangri - La and his meeting  at the Temple of The Yeti with the Dragon Goddess, the Princess Hott - Tee

Next it was the Tie Pin

The Dagger Tie Pin came from his adventure onboard the a large cruise liner.   It contained a large Blood Ruby, and a Garnet. A gift from a Scottish Lord who the Doctor had saved from drowning.  The Doctor omitted that the Cruise Liner was in fact The Titanic.

 The Shell Bracelet and Ear rings  the Doctor then explained came from his time on the  Island of Atlantis. A gift from Queen  Aleta for his  help avoiding the destruction of the Island by the Cybermen. Atlantis was rich with gold deposits. And the Doctor knew Gold was their main weakness.  Lou asked what a Cyberman was ?..... The Doctor was about to say they were once Human but now where cyborg - robots, but he change the answer and said " They were fearsome warriors from the City of Cyber that wore Silver Armour."  The answer was part true.

Lou looked at the Doctor " Cyber , is that in Europe ? "

The Doctor smiled and just nodded.  

 Next was a  Brooch showing an Enameled Star  that symbolized  the Four Houses of the now forgotten Imperial Empire of  Jobi that had vanished in 255 BC.  The Empire  and people of Jobi had originated on another planet. There Earth Outpost  had later been swallowed up by a massive earthquake. This was the only surviving relic that the Doctor had discovered on his travels. He thought it may have been a fake. He had found it in a market on Earths outpost on Titan in the year 2563..... he  thought it looked pretty and had planned to investigate its background........... but like most things he had never gotten around to do it.  

The Doctor told Lou about The Jobi Empire, but not they were a race of Aliens living on Earth in the past.

 All these items came with their own memories. Even the Earrings he had been given by a rich Aristocrat he had helped rescued in France from Madam Guillotine in Paris .  He had uncovered that she was like him an Alien who had become stranded on Earth by an accident. If he had allowed her to die, her people would have most likely invaded Earth and conquered it.  He helped  reunite her with her family, and his reward was the ear rings and a kiss from the beautiful lady.

All these items a memory of times past thought the Doctor. As Lou examined each of them in turn, The Doctor continued to tell  him a little bit about their history, knowing that Lou did not believe any of it. He kept the parts about Aliens and Time Travel to himself.  And would Lou believe him if he told him the real reason the Titanic Sunk or what it had hit in the first place. Not an iceberg, A Half Submerged damaged Battle Cruiser containing a number of  Angry Ice Warriors from Mars.  

The Doctor had collected many items on his travels throughout time and space. Phooey & Jack has seen some, But  the reason he  had brought these  items with him on this mission was he knew at  some time during that day he would have of need some money. Most of these items he had been given in lieu of aiding others on his travels. But he was confused as he did not remember adding the "M" Life Stone to the collection.  I must be getting old, he thought to himself.

Placing his magnifying eye piece to his eye, Lou examined the  Blue Hankies contents again.   Lou was very satisfied with what he saw. He picked up one of the Rings. It was set with Red Stones and had a white enameled  flower in the centre. Lou believed these were  Four Large  Ruby Gem Stones.

" Where did you get this ? " Lou inquired.

" A present from a  most delightful lady " Said the Doctor.

" It looks very old, the setting is simple but the craftsmanship is wonderful. It should be in a Museum " beamed Lou

"Yes its Elizabethan "  said the Doctor. " Around 1580 I believe " He continued. The Doctor knew exactly when he received it, and why and from Whom. 

" I suppose you got it directly from Queen Elizabeth herself " Joked Lou.

"Yes, I did as a matter of fact. I got it helping defeat the Spanish Armada" said the Doctor with a wink. Which was true he had helped in that conflict. And he had been given this ring and a Knighthood by The Virgin Queen herself. He was officially Sir Doctor  High Lord of the Blue Box.

Lou asked what type of business the Doctor was in. The Doctor told him he was an explorer and archaeologist  who specialized in ancient artifacts. He said he was in Town to give a lecture on Medieval Treasure. The Doctor hated to lie, but the truth that he was an Alien who traveled through Time and Space would be to hard for most folk to believe. He said he had business in town and was on his way to meet friends down town with his two son's who were waiting outside. 

Lou looked through the Window in the front door and saw Phooey & Jack standing across the street,

" Fine looking Boys " He Said " The little one looks a lot bit  you " he added

Reggie turn his head so not to let Lou see he was laughing at the fact Lou thought Phooey looked like the Doctor. or was it the Doctor looked like Phooey ?

Walking back to the counter Lou pointed to the Two Gold Coins. The Doctor told him he was willing to part with them. 

"I could Loan you $ 100 dollars against them. You Pay me back with in the next 7 days and I will not charge you any interest. But if it goes over a week you needed to pay me $ 110 dollars" Lou explained.

Lou was  himself a coin expert and his offer  to Loan the Doctor $100 Dollars in exchange for both of the Gold Coins, this was not a bad deal.  Lou knew were  rare Spanish Ram Skull Doubloons that dated from  around 1600's.  Although the Doctor believed that Lou was not really swindling him, The Time Lord knew they were worth much much more. The Doctor also knew had no choice but to accept these terms. 

He thought with any luck he could borrow the money to buy them back from the Impossibles when he found them. Ok If he did not manage to do this it would not do anything to damage the time line too much he thought. They did not have any real sentimental meaning to the Doctor, so he was willing to let them go. 

"Did you get these from Good Queen Bess also ?" Joked Lou as he  opened the cash register and counted out the $ 100 dollars

"No, I liberated them during a card games with Black Beard himself" replied The Doctor.Which again was true. 

" Bad card player, but Edward Teach was a very nice Chap !" added the Doctor.

Both men laughed loudly. The Doctor then wrapped the Blue Hanky around the other items and pushed it into his pocket, whilst Lou continued counting  out the money. 5  $10 dollar  notes  and 10 $ 5 dollar notes which he handed to the Doctor.... along with the receipt for the Coins. He placed the coins inside the Cash Register for safe keeping. 

Bidding the Store keeper good bye The Doctor and Reggie turned to leave. Reggie closed his eyes so not to look at  the frightening head of "Felix" and the Doctor lead him by his collar. As the Doctor opened the door of  the Pawn Brokers Store.  Lou shouted out " When and if  you come back please bring some more stories with you Doctor"

"And Remember Doctor, if you do not return to reclaim the coins that in 28 Days they are mine " Lou explained

The Doctor waved and smiled. He very much expected to return before then to reclaim his coins. 

Once outside the Doctor rejoined Phooey and Jack who said they had located a Taxi Rank about a block further down.

Then the Doctor counted out $50 dollars and gave it to Phooey, just in case they got split up and separated during the mission.  The idea would be for them to stay tog. ether as a team , but if needed they could work in pairs. Phooey and Jack, Himself and Reggie.

Phooey knew about paper money,  where Jack unfortunately did not. Then bending down the Doctor whispered into Reggie's ear. Reggie nodded.

 The Doctor asked Jack & Phooey to keep a look out and try to shield him from prying eyes. Jack stood one side whilst Phooey stood the other. Phooey gave the thumbs up and then took up a Kung Foo stance.

 

Jack remembered some thing that Jace had told him about his disguised Katana. Holding out the Umbrella he tapped the Gold Diamond twice.  And the Umbrella opened  proving a barrier to help shield the view from any onlookers.

Then  making sure that the coast was clear  Reggie opened a compartment on the back of  his head. The Doctor then placed the Blue Hanky with its contents inside for safe keeping. Walking around with items of this worth was asking for trouble he thought.

Once the operation was over Jack let down the Umbrella, which he found tricky.

 

Closing the compartment Reggie on his head he shook his head.  He could feel the items inside

" This Tickles" he whispered to the Doctor. The Doctor smiled and petted Reggie.

Then the Doctor  and Reggie followed Phooey and Jack as they set off in the direction of the Taxi Rank.

Next time the foursome get nearer to their targets..... The Impossibles.
