YESTERDAYS HEROES ONCE MORE Part Eighty Four....... It is Time to meet The Monk !

After the Doctor had  congratulated Reggie for catching the Ball Shaped device that he had removed for the back of the Control Console, he noticed that the door leading to the exterior had started to open. This  meant one thing, The Monk had returned.

As the door continued to open The Doctor thought about what his and Reggie's  options could be. They could try to hide, but there was not enough room for both of them to fit behind the Control Console. Not enough time for them to hide in either of the two rooms either.  So the only option would be to stand their ground and confront the Monk.

The door was now fully OPEN. At first the expression of the face of the Monk looked some what amazed that there was someone standing inside. This amazement turned to a look of raged as the threw himself through the door to confront these intruders.

The Doctor tried to stay calm. Then just before the Monk reached where he was standing he said

"Reggie, be a good Dog and no Barking at the Monk "

Reggie who still had his back to the door understood what The Doctor was hinting at, and winked. Then he calmly walked forward turn and sat beside the Doctor.

The Monk was now standing in front of Reggie and The Doctor. He then Clicked the Fingers of  his right hand and the door closed behind him. The Doctor and Reggie were now trapped.

" That is a good trick " said the Doctor.

" That is the Meaning of this ?" bellowed The Monk. " Who are you ?,  How did you get in here ? What do you want ? " he continued

" Well you should calm down a bit, and I will explain " said the Doctor realizing that he could use  The Monk's anger to get the upper hand. One thing did puzzle the Doctor. The Monk's eyes were Blue not Red as he had expected. But he thought he knew the reason why.

" HOW DID YOU GET INSIDE MY SHIP ?  The Monk hissed.

" I used my key " said the Doctor in a smug manner.

"YOUR KEY ? YOUR KEY ?" Shouted the Monk " HOW DID YOU GET A KEY ? "

" Well you look like a clever Chap, I sure you could work that out all by yourself "  Said the Doctor patting Reggie and trying to bait the Monk even further.

Reggie although a little be intimidated by the Ranting of the Monk, did want to laugh. But as he was now in "Dog" Mode he knew he should not.

The Monk then seemed to settle himself a touch. He smiled and said " Your a Time Lord Too "

" Yes I am also a Time Lord, and my name is The Doctor, and this is my DOG Reggie.  Can I enquirer what your name is ? " replied the Doctor, over emphasizing the word Dog whilst patting Reggie. .

" The Doctor ? " The Monk said with a slight cackle in his voice.

" If you are The Doctor, then you should already know my name. I may look a little bit older, but oh Yes we have met before Doctor " The Monk continued rubbing his hands together,

" Have we really met before ?" said The Doctor a little puzzled.

The Monk looked The Doctor up and down and said " You look very different, but you dress very similar. The Bow Tie should have alerted to me in the first place. Stopped wearing the Fez ?"

"Fez, Fez, I have never worn a Fez in my life !" said The Doctor , who was now become a little annoyed himself.

" The First time I met YOU Doctor you told me Fez's are COOL " Laughed The Monk thinking of their first meeting.

" Don't be ridiculous, I have never even owned a Fez in my like , who are you ? the Doctor replied

" Well may be you have not owned a Fez in this life time, but who's to say you won't in another life. " The Monk said slyly.

The Doctor imagined himself wearing Fez. He shock his head " Ridiculous " he muttered.

"Well my name is Timeatron, and this is the 2nd time I have met you. Whilst this appears that this is the 1st time you have met me.  Time travel can be very confusing Doctor. Meeting the same people again and again in the wrong order.  Can drive a person mad " laughed Timeatron.

" Well, part of me believes you, but I want to know how you came to be here. This is not even our Universe. The Time Lords do not even exist here. " replied The Doctor now very annoyed at being laughed at.

"  Well, the short answer is that YOU are the reason I am here. Would you like to see some images ? " Said Timeatron reaching into his robe and taking out a small silver box with buttons on it,

" Yes, but I do not want too much information about events that are still in my future. And I do not want to see a picture of one of my future regeneration's. " said the Doctor eager to know more.

Timeatron pointed the box towards the control console and pushed some buttons. The Doctor and Reggie walked away from the screen and turned so they could see it more clearly. At the same point Timeatron walked forward and stood beside the Console.

The Screen came to life. On the Viewer screen appeared a figure dressed in full Gallifreyan dress. It was a younger Timeatron.

" You are Dressed as a High Lord of the Faction Paradox " gasped the Doctor.

" Yes,  I was " said Timeatron smiling. " Now on with my story"

" Doctor, You had agreed to track me down and return me to Gallifrey, on request from the High Council. It seemed that the Time Lords were a spot annoyed at some of the things I had done in the past..... and in the future..... and they wanted back a few things that I had acquired or borrowed from their Black Museum."

The mention of the Black Museum explained how Timeatron had managed to get his hands on a time scoop. The Doctor wondered what else Trimeatron had managed to "Acquired"  from Black Museum, which the Doctor knew contained many dangerous things that the Time Lords themselves had decided lock away for safe keeping.

Timeatron  continued  "You had located me on one of the Moons of  Plussia Minor. I had narrowly escaped capture and had taken off in my Time Capsule. You chased me in your  Time Capsule and managed to bump me out of the time vortex."

" I arrived back in real space on the rim of a super black hole, but as my power supplies were low my Time Capsule did not have the power to avoid being pulled in. You arrived and tried to save me.... but you failed and I got sucked in. The next thing I knew I had crash landed here on this planet. There was at that  time no humanoid life, just great reptilian beasts. I tried to take off of the planet but found I was stranded. I could no longer move in time, the best I could do was move location on this miserable planet..... but every move  I attempted I could not find any real signs of intelligent life. I tried to contact the Time Lords for help, but found that our planet did not exist. So I knew I had wait until a time when inhabitants of this planet became intelligent enough to build things I could use to fix my Time Capsule. I knew this was Earth or a version of Earth, my star charts told me that, and from my ships data base I knew that it would be millions of years until any technology on this planet could aid me. " Timeatron said shaking his head.

" As you know Doctor, we only have a limited number of regenerations  inside us. I had already used up half my allowance. I was safe within my Time Capsule, but would surely die long before this World could help me. So I decided to put myself in stasis. I was lucky that I had a status tube that I had used on long journeys , with a few modifications  I found I could keep myself in status for nearly 5 thousand years at a time. I would find a location were my Time Capsule would be safe, and a place that the solar panels could recharge whilst I slept. I set the auto repair circuit  to repair as much as it could whilst I slept.

The Screen showed Timeatron going into status.

The Doctor looked on. This Stasis Machine was a far cry from the same one he had seen earlier. This looked new, where the one he had seen  earlier was older with a lot of later adaptions. What ever Timeatron was the Doctor knew he was a genius.   Evil but a genius using what he could to repair and give extra life to a machine that could help him evade Death.

The Doctor remembered seeing a very different statsis machine in the Monk's workshop hidden under a dust sheet. Reggie had stayed outside the room and had not seen it.

" The one you must have seen whilst you snooped around in my absence looks a tad different. Isn't Doctor ? " Timeatron Cackled. The Doctor said nothing.

Then Timeatron continued his story " It like most of the other devices had been damaged in the original crash, the Repair Circuit too had its limitations. So the process was long. When I would wake up after one of my long sleeps, I would spend about a week trying to make repairs myself, Sometime spending  more time out of stasis if needed. I would relocate my ship and go back into stasis. My ships chameleon circuit was not damaged so I knew that my craft would not attract any unwanted attention from any of the Great Beasts that roamed the land..  "

Both the Doctor and Reggie listened on, both feeling a little sorry for Timeatron.

Before Timeatron could continued, The Doctor spoke up.

" Even by my calculations you would have still used up all your lives before arrived at a time period that could in any way aid you and your repairs " said the Doctor puzzled.

" True, Doctor, too true..... but on awaking on one of my sleeps I found that my ship had managed to repair a small part of the time circuit. It was very unstable, but I had the possibility of one last jump forward in time.  All I needed was power, a lot of power. I knew that my current body was in now fit sate to attempt more stasis. It would need to regenerate soon.

I also knew that there was no guarantee that if I left the Circuit as it was it would not fail before I awoke again. So I decided it was now or never.

My Ship was able to absorb energy from the Sun, but that would not give me enough power to jump very  far enough forward in time. Maybe a Hundred Thousand Years.  What I needed was a jump  of over 200 Million Years, even more.  The more power the bigger the leap forward.  So I looked for a solution " said Timeatron.

"A lightening strike ? " said The Doctor clapping his hands together,

"Yes, I had to have lighting strike my Time Capsule and transfer that energy straight into the time circuits. Yes it was very dangerous, but what was the alternative. Live like I had been, knowing I would die long before I could get anywhere near my goal.  Researching the matter I found many places on this planet that have a  high number of lighting strikes each year The one I found most promising was an area of the planet which would later be called Brazil. I relocated my Time Capsule on to the top of the highest mountain around. The Area was flat, and surprisingly lush."

" Then over the next few days I constructed some crude kites and attached  wire cables I had stripped out of the walls of my Time Capsule. I found that this work was making me very fatigued, but I had no other choice "

" I turned off all of the ships systems that were not needed in this process. This would allow me a little extra power for the jump, and would guard against completely frying all of the Time Capsules circuits, including my  Chameleon Circuit.  Being so high up it did not really matter about concealing my ship. Usually my Time Capsule would been partly protected by its force field generator. but this too needed to be turned off. If left to be operational it would deflect the energy I needed to power my time jump. Apart from myself I had not detected any other living life up here, so the danger was minimal.  Even the Flying reptiles seemed to stay clear, as the storms here were far too dangerous it seems. Having done as much as I could to prepare,  I then  waited. "

"The first three storms I encountered did not appear to be worth risking trying to capture their energy as they were Over far too soon. I had one chance at this, so I waited. Then one night a mighty storm raged around my location."

"I had already attached the 6 Kites  I had constructed to the outside of my Capsule. The wires from each ran directly into the time circuit unit through the roof of my Capsule,  I believed I had done everything I could to make this a success. "

" I decided that I needed to wear some protective clothing as there was a possible chance that I could be electrocuted when I activated the controls. I put on a old Zero G suit I had. This would hopefully offer me some protection. "

" Later that night at mighty storm  appeared to be moving in my direction.  I released all of the Kites in to the nights air.  I stood patiently by my Control Console, ready to pull the lever that would hopefully activate the time jump. The lighting struck all around me but each time missed all of my lightning rods. "

"Then I noticed I my hands were getting hot.  I pulled off one of my gloves to see that my hand  was glowing. I was starting to regenerate. "

"The timing could not have been worse. As you know Doctor all regenerations can incapacitate  one of our kind during and afterwards for a time. If the lighting struct and I was not able to throw the lever to activate the Time Circuits, the charge received would cause devastation  and damage to my Time Capsule. This would result in me being  stranded here until my death. With the defense system turned off a strike to one of my kites or a direct hit to my ship would destroy it.

I had two options. Either leave things as they were and hopefully I would be able to function during my regeneration or in some way stop the process."  Timeatron paused.

" Stop a Regeneration !  no one has ever managed that ! " Announced The Doctor

" Oh Doctor, you are wrong there. There was one how did manage that very same thing. " chuckled Timeatron

" WHO !" said a very frustrated Doctor.

" Master Bibettee, Head of the Science Division,  he managed to stop himself from regenerating.,... by using what was once inside this bottle " Smirked Timeatron reaching inside his robes and bringing out a Small  Red Bottle, that was secured to a chain that hung around his neck.

"Bibettee was completely mad, he was found guilty of experimenting on many of our Race without their consent.  There is no proof that he stopped himself regenerating. "  replied the Doctor

" Oh, Yes there was. I found this bottle along with Bibettee's note books locked away in The Dark Museum. There were detailed report written by Rassilon himself. He investigated that matter. He concluded that not only did Bibettee manage to stop himself regenerating, he managed to restore himself in Mind  his Body to how it was when he first regenerated. So now he could be able to relive all his lives again. Also there was the possibility he could go on and on regenerating forever.  However, as you said he was found guilty of unlawfully experimenting on people, killing thousands I understand. After he was executed , he was buried in a unmarked grave somewhere in the Great Citadel, along with all of his things. ..... But not his Elixir of Life.    That was placed in the Dark Museum..... along with his note books.  I often wonder if Bibettee was really dead when they buried him, or  was he just awaiting to regenerate. If so the thought of being buried alive and not being able to die makes even some one like me shudder. "  after those words timeatron shrieked and  laughed loudly.

Both The Doctor and Reggie found this very unnerving. The Doctor patted Reggie to reassure them both.

Then smiling Timeatron flipped open the lid of the Red Bottle. He tipped it over. It was empty.

"I knew that this was important, so I always carried it with me.  Yes, Doctor, I had no idea what this would do to me..... But I drank it. I drank it all. I had by then never really studied Bibettee's notes. I did not know what the correct dosage was. I was planning to use it if I ever managed to reach the end of my 12th Regenerations, before I had finally manage my escape this planet.  So I drank the whole contents of the Bottle. The effects were more or less instant. My hand stopped glowing..... I felt fine. I looked at myself in the reflection in the glass viewer screen. I was not getting any younger...... but my regeneration had been halted it seemed...... Then before I could contemplate what had or had not happened there was a loud bang...

2 Kites had been shredded by the storm. I could hear the loose cables being whipped up and down around outside hitting the roof of my Time Capsule with great force . I only had 4 kites remaining. I pulled my glove back on and took the control lever in my hand.  Then there was an enormous Booming noise and my Capsule shook violently. Lightning had struck one of my lighting rods, I could hear the Billion Joules of energy racing down to the Capsule,  as I pulled the switch, another Boom filled by ears and I was flung backward to the far wall and I passed out.  " Timeatron paused

" What happened next ? " asked the Doctor excitedly

Well to hear the end of Timeatron's tale come back next time.

Until then ENJOY.
