This week in London's West End sees the opening of  Lord Andrew Lloyd Webbers production of the Wizard Of Oz

As he along with Sir Tim Rice, have written some more songs and music to add to the already famous film from the 1938, every one is looking forward to what they have done. Well they did write hits like Evita , Jesus Christ Super Star & Joseph together after all.

With what seems at great cast including The Original Phantom of The Opera, Michael Crawford. as Professor Marvel / The Wizard it should be good.

Well to celebrate the opening I have given the old wizard and friends the DAWGS treatment.

HELLO TO MY NEW FRIENDS In CANADA

WOW I have only been blogging for such a short time and it always surprises me of all the different people from sooooo many countries that visit my site.

As I seem to have a lot of NEW FRIENDS based in Canada, My Dog Buddy wanted to thank them all.

So Here is a Little Thank You From Him !

Buddy Knows that not all Canadians speak french, but he wanted to dress up and get into character. ( he loves to put on differnet costumes, as you may have noticed.)

Next Month He will hopefully be "thanking" some of the other folk who have visited him and the other Dawgs.

Hairy Pym used to complain that his girl friend Janet Van Dog, the Waspish Pooch changed her costume design too much. BUT what he was forgetting that in the beginning he changed his costume design just as often.

THE EVIL STEP BROTHER

Licky, Dog of Evil and Mischief had one aim,   and that was to rule the realm of As - Dog, Home of The Horse Dogs. This he knew he could not do this whilst his step brother, PAW Dog of Thunder was still around.

So he hatched a plan to use the Big Green Hounded Hulk to destroy PAW, but this failed and all that happen was the formulation of the Avenging Hounds,


As say, good things sometimes comes from bad things.

THE DOCTOR IS OUT ON A CALL...................

Most days you would not look twice at  Dog-ald Blake. He was an ordinary man, a Doctor by profession, who hid a big secret.  

If he tapped his walkies stick to the ground he  was transformed into PAW, the Dog of Thunder.  His Walkies Stick  became a wondrous Mallet " MUT-JAW" made of a unbreakable material called Doggie Doo. A Mallet that could control the weather, and give its owner the power of flight,   Only Paw could lift the Mallet, and once thrown, it would return to him like a boomerang.

PAW was one of the Ancient Horse Dogs of  "As - dog"  and was the  son of the ruler Doggie Dins.

PAW had many friends, but also many enemy's, one which his own  Step - Brother Licky, the Dog of Evil ( more of him later this week )

Licky was the reason for the formation of the Avenging Hounds after a bid to destroy PAW failed.

PRESENTING An UNSUNG HERO HOUND.......

Dogwin Jawvis is Butler and Kennel Keeper  to the Avenging Hounds.

He is a able to put his paw to any thing, from doing the dusting, making tea, baking a cake, even re wiring the Quin Jet.   He is the Top Dog when it comes to helping around the Kennel.

A very private person, who would never pry into the goings on of the Guests, but is always happy to give advice and support to all the Heroes when needed.

Never Officially made one of the Avenging Hounds, but to them  he is considered one of the most important parts of the Group.

A True British Gentle Dog, and War Hero during Woof War 2 . ( and a great cook too )

THE DOCTOR'S LITTLE LADY...........

Behind every great Man is a great Woman they say.   well in the early days Ant - Pup had adventures alone, but after a meeting with a fellow Doctor and his daughter, he soon fell in love and gave her an unique gift.  Flowers or chocolate would have been nice. A big DIAMOND  RING  would have been better.   BUT no what did Hairy Pym give his sweet Heart Janet Van Dog,  a Pair of WINGS, and Insect ANTENNA.

This added with the ability to shrink to insect size, Janet became the hero known as the Wonderful Waspish Pooch.

Pictured here in her first or various costumes she was to wear over the years to come.

She would later marry her Blue Eye Dawg, although it did not last.    Known for her Many different costumes she wore, the pint sized Heiress, was definitely no Air Head as she became a world famous fashion designer and even got to lead the Avenging Hounds for a time.

Although she now resides in that Great Kennel in the Sky, like all Super Heroes she is bound to be back some day soon.

THE MUTT - HATTAN HOME OF THE AVENGING HOUNDS

You can find the Avenging Hounds usually at their New Yorkie town house most days.

Owned by their original financial sponsor, Millionaire Boney Bark ( secretly The IRON HOUND ) this luxury residence acts as meeting place and home for the team.

Located on 5th Avenue, the Avenging Hounds Mansion attracts visitors from all walks of life.

Dogwin Jawvis looks after the day to day running of the house, and needs of the members of the super group of Doggies

SIZE IS NOT EVERY THING !

Here we have another inventor, who came up with a formula to reduce his size.  Later he developed a way to communicate with insects, and went on to become The Ant - Pup !

Dr Hairy Pym did not stay pint sized for too long long, as after another play with his test tubes,  changed his formula to become the Big Dog known as The Giant Pup.

 Over the years he changed his name and abilities many times, but he will be remembered firstly as the scientist who had "little BIG ideas !"

HE IS A MEAN GREEN SMASHING MACHINE...............

Bruce Bonner never wanted to be a hero.... all he wanted to do was invent things and marry his Girl Friend Betty.   BUT due to a accident he became the Incredible Hounded Hulk.

 A founding member of the Avenging Hounds, he was quick to leave the Gang. as he had problems with his temper and liked to brake things too much. Not a good team player, but you would rather have him with you than against.

WHEN BRUCE MEET BRITT

As we all know, the Green Hornet appeared on the Bat-Man TV show in the 1960's...

So I decided to re tell the "tail" in Dawg style...

I do not usually do DC characters in BUDDY style, especially Bat-Man,  as I created The Bat-Fang look doggies for that purpose ( see earlier work  DC DAWGS) and I think that works better.  

But I could not resist doing the TV Bat-Man in Buddy Style, as it appears more comical.  Please note that I tried to get both of the Dynamic Duo's costumes to be a close to the TV look and colour.

I hope you like the result.

The not-so dynamic duo are armed only their wits,  mobile hair saloon,  The Bark Beauty.... plus a truck load of Hair Products..  battle Bad Hair days around the Globe.

Their Evil Enemies include,  Dr Dan Druff , Ed Lice,  Herr Transplant &  Ginger Curls

YET ANOTHER GREEN MOVIE HERO

I did a lot of Green Lanterns Last year for Free Comic Book Day... and the tie into the Blackest Day Etc....

My take on the Blackest Day was the Barkest Day.... and Buddy Dressed up as many  different Green Lanterns.  If you look at my DC Dawgs you can see some of these.

I Have done a quick version of the Movie Lantern to do along with his weeks postings. When I get time, and also a good look at the Movie Costume, I will go back and improve the look, as my version it is not right.

THE GREEN HORNET & KATO

Although I have yet to see the Movie, I do remember seeing the Green Hornet appearing on  the 1960's Bat -Man TV series.   I cannot remember seeing the short lived Green Hornet series on British Telly, but as I was only a young lad at the time, it may have aired.

I hope you liked my version of The Black Beauty.  This was, and is the First Car I have drawn for my Blog.

I did do a Fantasti - Car a while back (far too many curves for my liking )

ANOTHER CLASS PICTURE

Unlike today, when Heroes change their Uniforms as often as their socks, way back in the 1960's most characters costume design stayed them same.  Some times it was up dated, but this was usually due to a changing artist who either made a mistake or wanted to improve on the overall look.

Think about Spidey, The Fantastic Foursome and Dr Strange.... they still wear the same costume as they originally wore.  A little up dated, but the same. (ok the Good Doctor did get a new cloak, but the old one was a bit boring, and as for  Dare Devil, you have to make allowances for the original Yellow and Red look, he is blind after all)

Here is another look at the X Mutts a couple of years into the first run. The main changes was to Bobby's move away from being a walking Snowman, new belts for all and a new mask for Jean.
( and to be kind I changes Pupfessor Rex's suit colours for the new class " photo" )

This is the end of my X Man tribute week, but I will return to these Mutant Mutts soon with further updates to the original class, and costumes. ( AND MORE CLASS PHOTOS TOO ! )

The final member of the Un caninie X-MUTTS ,  MARVEL MUTT.   Possibly the 1st Mutt-ant found by Pupfessor Rex, she turned out to be the most powerful.

Marvel Mutts thought bubble comes from the 1st time she put on her X-Mutt uniform in X-Men #1


What can you say about this Marvelous Redheaded Bitch.  Girl friend to Scottie, Pupfessor Rex's right hand ( sorry paw ) and the ability pick things up without touching them. No wonder all the other X-Mutts fell in love with this young Lassie.

THE TEAMS HIGH FLYER......... MEET WARREN

Life was never easy for most Mutt-ants, but being a rich high flying playboy had its advantages for WW the 3rd.  After leaving the X-MUTTS he set up his own group, The Chum-pions, even spent time with the Dogger Strange and the Dog-Fenders. Finally like the girl from OZ he knew that there is No place like Home, and returned to the X-MUTTS

This Bird Dog was never an Angel around the lassies, but equally you could never call him an Air Head either.

LEADER OF THE PACK ......... SCOTTIE

I did a version of Cyclops in my 12 days of Christmas.   More of a mix of new and old.  This Cycpups is as near to the original as possible.   ( Kept the red belt as looked better )

Just for the record, the speech bubble contains the exact wording from the X - Men 1# when we see the characters for the first time,

Unfortunately, Pupfessor Rex speech yesterday was slightly re written as what the good professor says is far  tooooooo long to print.

THE CANINE

To keep my Capt America theme going I have " dressed my Buddy Dawg " as the Captain. Those of you who remember that  for a brief time Mr Rogers had to hand back his Suit with the big A on it, and continued his fight for truth justice and the American way ( wasn't that the other guy with the cape and the curl ? )

This suit was later adopted by the guy who took over from Mr Rogers as Capt America.   I hope he had it dry cleaned first !!!

MY FIRST COMIC BOOK COVER

This was my first ever Comic Book cover that I adapted.   Done as a Christmas Card way back in    2008 for my friends at my local comic store   A PLACE IN SPACE

Based on Fantastic Four #3 this was more of a correct, cut and paste job..... but doing this gave me a lot of knowledge of how to, and what looked good.

The Comic Book Store had a pet Poodle, Buddy so that is why his name appears on the cover.

When Buddy later died, (of old age) I decided to use my Poodle Dawg  on the next years Xmas card, and the name Buddy seemed perfect.

The A P I S ( A Place In Space ) Four are supposed to be be the staff at the Shop .   So thanks to Alison, Steve, Dan & Chris from APIS and Stan & Jack of course.

First Look at Canine America The Movie Mutt

Dean over at Springfield punx did an excellent Take on Captain America as seen in the up coming movie.


As I have already posted my take on the Comic Version of the good captain, I have decided to do an updated version to tie in with the movie.

Based on the WW2 look, I hope you like Buddy as Canine America,

As no really good pictures have been released of the costume, I found one that had Capt A wearing army fatigues and helmet over the costume complete with the original shield

MY FAB FOUR DOGGIE STYLE

This was my first attempted at doing a copy cover.

Based on FF 181# I tried to use the same colour pallet that was used on original on mine. I did this on my previous computer, and feel that although I transferred onto my new, the overall quality of the image is not as good as when I did it way back in 2009

But I still like it
