YESTERDAYS HEROES ONCE MORE Part Eighty Nine............ Olli and The Cart..... and The Plan is Finally Revealed !

 

Phooey and Jack exited the room to investigate the loud crash that they had heard a short time before.

 There was no one outside, but they could hear sounds coming from around the corner. They slowly crept in the direct of the sounds. Turning the corner they saw a young man with an overturned wheeled trolley, the contents of which they assumed had fallen to the floor.  The young chap has trying looking at the  plates and glasses that had fallen and broken. Their were flowers and tins of Beer littering the corridor. 

"How did this happen ?"  asked Jack, as he and Phooey walked over to the young guy.

" I was rushing, and was careless. This refreshment was meant was meant for the VIP Box, now its all ruined.  When the boss finds out I will get the sack for sure, I need this job " The Young Guy said tearful.

The Young Guy picked up a piece of broken crockery, and a tear ran down his cheek.

" What if your Boss does not find out ? Would you like some help cleaning this mess up ?" asked Phooey.

" My little Friend knows his way around a Mop and Bucket." Jack added.

The Young Guy nodded and Phooey laughed at Jack's comment about him being a Janitor.

The Young Guy introduced himself as Olli, which was the name Phooey had noted on Olli's ID name badge. Jack and Phooey introduced themselves too.

"Phooey ? That's a Strange Name " Enquired Olli

"Yes, its a nickname, my real name is Penry. All my friends call me Phooey,  Phooey replied

"Except our leader, he calls him Penry" Jack added correcting what Phooey had said.

The Young Guy rushed off saying he would be back soon with some things to help clean up the mess. Jack placed the Up Turned trolley back onto its wheels, whilst Phooey surveyed the mess. Most of the Glasses were cracked or smashed. However, the Plastic Water Jugs, that had been full of Water and most of the plates looked fine, but some were beyond saving.. He started to pick through the mess to find anything salvageable  as did Jack, both being careful not to cut themselves. Jack mentioned that he had seen similar plates in the Kitchen they had found the spent Bullet case.  

Phooey grabbed the trolley and raced off to that Kitchen.

The Olli arrived back with a large wheelie dumpster which contained some Buckets, a Broom and a Mop. All the things required to help clean up the mess.

Shortly after Phooey also arrived back with his trolley now full of plates and cups he had liberated from the Kitchen that Jack and he had visited earlier on in the day. . He had even found a new clean cloth to put over it as he knew the other original cloth would be too wet to use. He pulled up the cloth to show Olli and Jack that on the second shelve were rows of brightly shining glasses.  Phooey had also located a Vase that would replace the broken one. The Roses would look perfect in it.

When Olli saw the trolley full of everything that was needed, he smiled. Phooey smiled back and gave his traditional thumbs up.

Whilst the other two had been away, Jack had started to collect up  most of the tins marked Beer. He had pilled them up away from the mess. He was not sure what the word BEER meant, but believed it must be important as the tins had a Big Gold Star on them. 

Now the three turned their time to the clean up operation in the corridor.... as they did they all chatted.

Meanwhile, back in the store room the Doctor was still busy working on the Time Scoop. He had removed part of the outer housing of Reggie's head and was now in the process of attaching the cable flex to each side of Reggie's temples. The energy levels had still been increasing, causing Reggie's internal circuits to glow a much brighter level.  The Doctor knew he had to work faster....

The Impossibles looked on feeling very useless, but amazed at how the Doctor was building a very complex device out of  the limited items available to him. 

The Doctor had borrowed parts out of the Vacuum Cleaner and its motor to help insert and attache  the Katana into the Time Scoop. He had discovered that the motor in the Cleaner had burnt out,  so The Doctor did not feel bad about destroying the machine in the manner that he had. The Copper Wire in the motor was still intact, which was what the Doctor really needed. 

Manny aka Coil Man had been keeping guard of the doors most of the time. He had raised his head up on his coiled neck and was looking out through the glass panel in the door. The coast was so far clear. He wondered what Jack & Phooey had discovered.

Lee aka Multi Man had duplicated some more items on the request of the Doctor. Now there were five extra duplicates sitting against the wall.  They all sat in silence watching the Doctor at work.

Walter aka Fluid Man had been called over to where the Doctor was standing. He was still making adjustments to Reggie.  As he worked on the Doctor asked Walter  if his powers included the ability of making ICE or Cooling things down ?

Walter said they did, he could either turn into or produce any form of Water, that included Snow and even Ice.

 The Doctor told him that he would need him on hand just in case to help cool both Reggie and possibly the Kanata if either started to over heat when he finally transferred the energy absorbed from Timeatron into the Time Scoop. Walter agreed to this, as by this time was feeling a little bit left out. He wanted to help as much as everyone else.

As the Doctor continued his work on the Time Scoop, Walter demonstrated his powers,  much to the amusement of Reggie.

At first Walter made an Ice Shield or was it an Umbrella ?

"That's Cool !" Reggie laughed.

Then he made it snow.

"That's Really Cool" Reggie said playing a few bars of White Christmas from his memory banks.

The Doctor smiled, then reminded Reggie that he needed to concentrate on the task ahead.

Walter explained that even he did not know the full extent of his abilities yet. All he knew was as long there was moisture in the air, he could use it in anyway he wanted to produce different types and forms of fluid.

"Some ones coming, I hear foot steps"  Manny whispered to the group. Everyone fell silent.

Raising himself up Manny looked  again through one of the windows on the doors. He was relieved to see it was just Jack and Phooey returning.

They entered the room, and  were greeted by everyone.  The Doctor broke off his work and came over to ask what had happened outside in the corridor.  Phooey informed the group that the strange noise was caused by some one dropping some Plates and Glassware in one of connecting passageways. The echo effect that was caused by the empty corridor made it sound much louder than it really was he assumed.  Jack said they had helped the Guy tidy up, so that they could get him away from the area as soon as possible. 

The Doctor agreed that that was a good idea, as he did not want to endanger anyone unnecessarily once he activated the Time Scoop.

Phooey and Jack looked at Reggie as The Doctor went back to make some the final adjustments.  

Reggie was not looking his best. He had wires pocking out of his head, part of his outer head was missing, but he was still smiling. The other part of his head had been put on the large Fire Extinguisher for safe keeping,  like it was sitting on a  hat stand.

Jack could see his Katana was now integrated into the Time Scoop, and had its blade laying on the base of the wooden box. Jack looked at it, and it made him feel a little bit sad. 

"Where is the Cowboy ?" asked Phooey as he realised that he was not where they had left him, bound up and sitting against the door of the big wooden box.

"Its alright Penry, I asked the Imp's to move him over there, out of the way. " Explained the Doctor pointing to the far corner. Looking they could see one Cowboy Boot sticking out behind some boxes.

"The Doctor thought it for the best, just in case someone came in. Then we all helped move Reggie over to sit beside this box." Walter continued.

" All Finished !" The Doctor announced and stepped back to look at what he had produced.

Then the Doctor explained what was now going to happen, and how the machine would work.

First,  He would press the button that was from the base of the Vacuum Cleaner.

This would activate part of the Walkie Talkie  that he had borrowed back from The Impossibles and had now incorporated in to make shift device...

That would send a signal up the wire into Reggie's head....

The Doctor said he had rerouted the Main and secondary power supply from Reggie, directly into his logic circuit unit. This should release the Energy Reggie had absorbed from Timeatron, as it would be  rerouted via his Cybernetic brain, and then directed into the Time Scoop through the wire on the other side of  Reggie's head. 

The reason the Energy would be sent via Reggie's brain would allow Reggie to basically control the flow as it fed into the Time Scoop. This would also allow Reggie to interface with the Time Scoop giving it the instructions to return Johnny Ringo to his right time period earlier than had been planned. Or that was the theory anyway.

Once fully activated, and with help from Reggie himself, the Time Scoop would send out a pulse or energy wave to return any item it had brought forward in time back to where it had been originally taken from.

Any excess energy would pass through the Time Scoop into the Katana to hopefully stop it overloading or burning out before it could perform it function.....

The Unique make up of the Steel in the Katana should be adequate to deal any excess energy the Doctor believed.

And any excess energy that the Katana could not contain would be passed through it onto the outer shell of  Timeatron's Time Capsule where it would be fully absorbed. Think of the Sword as being a lightning rod, the Doctor added. 

Finally after explaining the process the Doctor turned to his party and said  " Its Quite simple when you think about it, any questions ?" 

Phooey raised his hand " Where will we be standing ? "

"You, Jack and Manny will be outside this room for your own safety. You will be looking after all of Lee's Duplicates that were involved in Duplicating items I needed to build this device. "replied the Doctor.

He continued "  I need to stay here and supervise. Lee will provide a large number of his Duplicates along with their shields to make a barrier for me to quickly step behind in case the Regeneration Energy starts to spread out into the room. Walter offered to remain with me just in case he needed to cool down Reggie by freezing him or any of the other components in the chain. He also will remain behind the Screen of Multi Men "

" What about him ?" said Manny pointing to he Boxes Johnny Ringo was hidden behind.

" Well, If I have got  all of my calculations correct once the Time Scoop has been activated every single thing that it had been used to Scoop up by it will disappear. I mean anyone and any thing should automatically be returned to its own time period. Only the people and living things were subject to the 48 hour time limit put on them by Timeatron.. The People  he scooped up in time would have thought they could stay in the future forever, but that was never Timeatron's plan. After they had done what he wanted them to do for him, and once the 48 hours were over they faded away back to their own time period. The other items like tools, and things of value could remain in the present forever, or for  as long as Timeatron wanted them.  This includes all the boxes of things that I saw he had stolen and had stored inside his craft. "  The Doctor carefully explained.

" You said any excess energy that would be passed from my Katana on to the Wooden Box... but would the box not burn ? " Said Jack.

" No, although the box looks like it is made of wood, its made from a nearly indestructible metal alloy only found on my home planet. Unlike my Tardis, this Time Capsule has a fully working Chameleon Circuit. Meaning it tries to blend into its surroundings.  It may look like wooden storage box, but its not." The Doctor answered.

" Just like the Doctor's Tardis.  It may look like a Blue Wooden British Police Box, but it is not really " Phooey said to Jack.

The Impossibles looked a bit confused, maybe this was they had never seen the Doctor's Mobile HQ that he now was calling the Tardis.  It was also a Police Box, the Impossibles did not know what that was either. 

Then the Doctor asked Manny, Jack and Phooey to please take Multi Man's Duplicate out of the room and to a place of safety.  Phooey said that there was a storage room much like this one a few doors down the corridor. That was where they allowed Johnny Ringo to capture them. This should be safe to use.

" I will call you on Reggie's collar micro phone when the process is over " The Doctor said.

Phooey reach into his pocket to ensure he still had his Walkie Talkie. He did.

Then Phooey and Jack wished Reggie and everyone good luck. Then Jack making certain that no one was watching outside the doors signalled to the  Five Duplicates to follow him to a place of safety. Phooey remained to bring up the rear.  Manny waved and wished his team mates good luck too.

" Should you really be going out there dressed as you are ?   Purple and Mauve is a bit over the Top, here take my coat " Said the Doctor to Manny

" No need " Manny replied and touched  the Big C on the middle of his chest.

 The Doctor and Reggie watched as Coil Man transformed from his Super Hero Costume to his Manny Springs Impossibles Band Uniform.  It just seemed to melt away.

" That's clever " Announced Reggie.

"We can all do it, that is how we arrived in our stage Uniforms. Once we heard that you needed help we switch to our Hero Mode."  Walter boasted.

"But" said Lee, " When I change my Duplicates stay dressed as they were originally made. They do not change, and do not have this ability.  So I tend to only Duplicate when I am in Hero costume as a rule. Although back at the Hotel it was not necessary as you had seen us all in our civilian attire. Having more than one Multi Man is ok, but too many Lee's could cause confusion " Lee added.

Lee winked at his team mates. Then he continued.....

"Remember if any of my Duplicates get hurt and then explodes into dust, the item that it had duplicated for the Doctor will  also disappear, ruining the experiment. " Said Lee to the Phooey and Manny as they prepared to follow Jack and The Duplicates out of the room.

" And that could  Ruin ME TOO !" laughed Reggie.

" Rally Hoooooooooo ! " Manny whispered  punching the air as he left the room.

" Rally Hooooooooooo ! " Replied Walter and Lee

Phooey turned just as the doors were closing behind him. He then he ran back to where Reggie was sitting and hugged him. Then he said

"I know that I was not very nice to you when I first met you, but I apologise. You have become one of my Best Friends along with Jack and The Doctor. I will never forget this adventure.  Take care " Phooey said patting his friend.

"Thank You, I love you too" said Reggie

" You better get going before you have us all in tears" Said The Doctor wiping his eye with his Red Handkerchief 

Phooey joined Jack and the others and they disappeared out of the doors and along the corridor.
