Phooey, Jack and Manny had been waiting in silence in the other storage room. They all looked at the small Walkie Talkie Radio that Phooey had place on one of the shelves. So far nothing had been heard. No sound had come out of its speaker.
With the door now secured by the broom handle, Manny did no longer need to guard the door as he had done. He looked at his watch, it had been over half an hour since they had left the Doctor and his team mates in the other room. They must have started the process by now he thought to himself.
Then the lights in the room started to flicker, and in the distance they heard what sounded like a loud clap of thunder, or was it a gun shot. Then the ground started to shake.. Was it an Earthquake ?
The lights in the room then went completely out..... but came back on after a few seconds. Phooey grabbed the Walkie Talkie from the shelf and spoke into it.
"Doctor, Doctor, this is Penry calling..... please coming in. " he said
" Trying boosting the out put " Manny said very agitated and feeling that he was unable to help.
" Be calm my friend " said Jack patting his new friend on the back
Phooey turned the dial on the front and repeated what he had said.
There was no reply. He tried a third time. Still no reply.
" Should we now return ? " Jack asked.
" Well we were told to wait to hear from the Doctor first before returning " Phooey said " But as no one answered my call, they could be in a spot of trouble. " Phooey continued.
" I vote to go back now, our friends may be in need of our help " Manny said excitedly.
Phooey and Jack nodded in agreement.
Jack pulled the broom out of the door handles and pushed the doors open.
" Sometimes doing the wrong thing is better than doing nothing." Jack said
Jack looked at Phooey, and did a small smile. This was to acknowledge that Phooey had said that to him previously back in the Tardis.
" Yes and doing nothing is the wrong thing at present " Replied Phooey winking to Jack.
Manny looked over at the Duplicates and said " Stay here, do not move "
The Duplicates all nodded.
Meanwhile, the Doctor had got to his feet. The room was in darkness, then the lights started to flicker back to life. At first he could only make out a shape, them he saw it was Reggie. He had survived the Explosion. As the room got brighter he could see that Reggie looked like he had sustained some damage.
The machine that he had built was laying in many pieces. The Katana looked like it had melted. The Time Scoop was also in pieces. The Doctor looked around the room. Many of the Duplicates had disappeared, the energy realised during the final explosion must have destroyed many of them.
"Reggie, Reggie are you OK ?" called the Doctor
Reggie remained motionless, but then his mouth dropped open, and one of his ears drooped.
Then one of the Multi Men stood up and walked over to the Doctor.
" Lee is that the real you ? " asked the Doctor
"Yes, its the real me " was the reply.
The Doctor then realised that Walter aka Fluid Man was not in the room. Had the explosion killed him ? Had he been vaporised ?
"Walter ! Walter !" the Doctor called.
" I am down here " came a voice. It was Fluid Man
The voice was coming from a grate in the floor.
"Stand back I am coming out " The Voice said
Then water started to over flow up out of the grating. More and more water started spilling into the room. Then a head appeared, it was Fluid Man.
He kept rising up out of the grating until he was fully formed.
The Doctor and Lee walked over to where Walter was standing.
" How did you end up down there ?" asked the Doctor
"Well, when I noticed the room was heating up before the final explosion, I turned myself into a Giant Ice shield that I encased both you and Lee in....... But the final release of energy caused me to turn in steam. And as my steam was scolding hot I thought to save burning anyone I would retreat down the grating I had spotted earlier.
" That now makes sense, I remember the room got very hot and then icy cold. The Cold was you ! " added Lee.
The Doctor then said that if Lee and his duplicates, along with Walter could start tidying up the mess, he would inspect Reggie.
The Doctor approached Reggie. There was no sign of activity.
