YESTERDAYS HEROES ONCE MORE Part Eighty Eight............ Now What to do with Johnny Ringo ?

The Story so far.........

 The Doctor and Reggie had trapped " The Red Eyed Monk" who was really called Timeatron inside his Time Capsule that was disguised as a Big Wooden Box.

 Meanwhile, Jack and Phooey had found Johnny Ringo. They had tricked Ringo to think he had captured them, as they thought that would mean he would take them them to where The Monk was. 

The plan had nearly back fired, but with Reggie's quick thinking and the  help of The Impossibles Lee Genn aka Multi Man, Walter Wells aka Fluid Man and Manny Springs aka Coil Man,  they had manage to over power the Cowboy before he could shoot anyone.

Ringo was  presently unconscious and tied up, He would not be returning to his own time period for at least 24 hours.  The Doctor did not want such a Dangerous person later escaping with the possibility of him causing any more problems to the City of San Francisco.

 Phooey had removed all of the Bullets from Ringo's Guns, and had hidden them. Reggie had originally wanted to use his heat vision on the Two Revolvers, but the Doctor reminded him that when Ringo returned to his own time the Guns should return with him. So Reggie making sure that Ringo did not have any other Bullets on his person, replaced the empty revolvers back into Ringo's Gun Belt.

Then The Doctor asked everyone to give him ideas of what to do with Ringo.

Phooey suggested putting him in the Box with Timeatron. The Doctor rejected this idea, as if he unlocked the door of the Time Capsule Timeatron may try to escape. Although he and Reggie were immune to his Hypnotic Powers then others were not. This idea was far too risky.

Jack suggested  a quick execution of the villain. He added  he would be willing to undertake the task.

The Doctor rejected this idea as it was too extreme, and he did not approve of unnecessary violent behaviour. Anyway he explained that Ringo needed to return to his own time period if not it could cause completions in the past and future time lines.  

 

Walter suggested that The Doctor took him back to his mobile HQ.

 The Doctor rejected that idea. He explained that taking an unconscious and tied up Cowboy way across town would possibly lead them to getting arrested. Taking a Dog with Yellow Eyes, and a glowing Yellow nose would also bring much unwanted attention. In around hour the audience would arriving for the concert that evening. Even smuggling him out of the Stadium  would be impossible  to do unnoticed.... and where would they get a car.

Manny suggested they call their Boss Big D and ask him to help.

 The Doctor rejected that idea, as he really did not want to have ask any complicated questions. Plus the least number of people that knew about the matter, the less likely anything could go wrong.

Lee threw his hands up and said he did not have any ideas to offer. Although he did say he liked some of the other ideas that had been suggested. Maybe not Jack's he thought to himself.

Then a strange muffled gargled noise was heard by all. It was Reggie. He trying to speak with the Time Scoop still in his mouth.

He said "Wat aboot  ozing dis ? " 

"Reggie, you can put the Ball down now" said The Doctor . Reggie bent forward the let go of the Ball Shape device, and gently placed in on the floor in front of him.

"That's better. I said what about using this ? Said Reggie looking at the Time Scoop.

The Doctor looked at the Time Scoop. When he had given it to Reggie to take care of it was inert, maybe with a little residual energy that had started to die away after he had removed it from the Control Console in Timeatron's Time Capsule.  By the time he had given it to Reggie to keep, all of the lights on it had gone out, But now it was active, and flashing.

" You clever Boy ! " Announced the Doctor " Some how whilst it was inside you it must of started to feed off of your own power supply, or even the energy you absorb from Timeatron. If  it  now could be possible to  use the Time Scoop to return Johnny Ringo earlier than was originally planned, as long as they could give it a sufficient power supply.

 "Reggie are you willing to help me  ?" the Doctor said excitedly. Then he noticed that Reggie's ears were starting to glow as well.....Without the Time Scoop inside his body, the energy was starting to build up. 

Whilst Reggie was storing the Time Scoop inside himself, it  had allow it to feed off of some of the excess energy and had reactivated itself . Thus keeping Reggie in check somehow, but now it was outside his body there was nothing to stop the energy level starting to increase. Looking at the device, The Doctor could see without its source of power the Time Scoop had deactivated again.  

" Okay Doc, anything for you ? " Reggie nodded. 

The Time Scoop was inert once again.

The Doctor realised that there was now a greater risk of Reggie over loading or worst exploding, as the thing that had helped regulate his energy levels was no longer doing so.. The Doctor knew he would not have time to get him back to the Tardis, he had to act now.

"I am going to make this work, get rid of all that excess energy you absorbed. First we need a few tools, screw driver, wire cutters etc " said the Doctor looking around the room.

" Will this do ? I always keep a few tools on board just in case I need to perform some DIY on myself." said Reggie. He held up his left paw, out of it came a Red rectangle shaped item.....

 Which he handed to The Doctor. The was a small button on the side. He pushed it and the device opened.  It contained a number of tools that the Doctor could use. 

" It is like a Swiss Army Knife ! " Exclaimed the Doctor with glee. " This will be of  great use to me " he continued.

" Is there nothing that Dog does not have stored inside himself ?" Said a chuckling Phooey to Jack.

"Excellent" said the Doctor Beaming " Now we need some Wire." 

" Will this do " Said Phooey pointing at the Vacuum Cleaner flex.

" Yes Penry, it would " Replied the Doctor.

Phooey unrolled the Flex pulling it taunt and then motioned to Jack to cut it with his  Katana  which was still disguised as his Umbrella. Jack drew his Umbrella and after carefully finding the best place to make his cut swiped the Umbrella in a downward direction severing the Flex.  

Phooey rolled up the long length of flex and took it over to the Doctor and laid it on the floor next to him.

The others looked on as The Doctor asked Reggie to turn around, which Reggie did.

Reggie then rotated his head so he could see that the Doctor was going to do.

The Doctor selecting a tool from the Red Device  he asked Reggie if he could have access to his  primary and secondary power cores. The Doctor knew they were located on Reggie's back because he had studied Dyno -  Mutts schematics when he was offered to see them by Radley aka The Blue Falcon.

" You better step back a bit Doc, as I think it may be a bit warm in side there " Reggie said to the Doctor.

The Doctor patted the Cybernetic Canine and stepped backwards.

Reggie opened the hatch to allow the Doctor access.

Although some of the internal circuitry had started to over heat, no damage appeared to have yet been caused, but how long would it be before something started to melt ?, mused the Doctor.

The Doctor looked at the inner workings of Reggie.  It amazed him what a brilliant scientist Dr Quest was to build this unique Cybernetic Canine. The Doctor then asked Reggie to point out which of ports lead to his Primary Power Core. Reggie looking down told the Doctor it was the one on the right hand side. 

Seeing Reggie with his head now facing backwards made Manny, Walter and Lee gasped. They knew Reggie was Robotic, but still this was something they had never witnessed before. A dog with his head on backwards. The Doctor kept working inside Reggie with his tools. Whilst he did The Doctor kept speaking to Reggie to insure that he was causing any damage.

Then the Doctor  picked up the Time Scoop. There was a lot of wire poking out where he had pull it from the back of Timeatron's  Control Console. If he had known he would need to use it himself he would have been a little bit gentler when he removed it.

He opened it up by unscrewing the base section.  Not too much damage he thought. Whilst he continue his work he asked if Multi Man could assist him.

" I am not really the scientific type " Lee explained.

The Doctor then asked him about an ability he had demonstrated back the hotel. Not the one that involved creating Duplicates of himself, the one that he could recreate anything he was holding at the time when he duplicated. As with the Mops and Bucks he had provided when they cleaned up the Hotel Room.

Lee said that these items unlike his duplicates where not made from Dust. They were proper replicas. A Wooden Broom, was really a Wooden Broom. Scientists at the Secret Organisation he and the other Impossibles worked for had found these were perfect duplicates.  No one had found out how this could be possible, but some how it was. He found that he could even reproduce complex chemical compounds if required. They were such good copies that even the slightest fault in anything he recreated would be reproduced totally the same.. However, he could not copy any living creature. That included People, Plants, Animals or Insects. No one knew why he could not do this.   He then explained that only draw back was if the Duplicate got destroyed or he reabsorbed it back into himself the item that had been duplicated along with it would cease to be. It would just fade away leaving no trace it ever existed.

Lee then asked if The Doctor wanted him to Duplicate Reggie ? , as he thought this may be of some assistance. The Doctor said he had not thought about it, but could he ? Lee asked Reggie if he would not mind taking part in the experiment. Reggie said it sounded fun.

The Doctor stood back and Multi Man and placed one of his hands on the back of Reggie's head......  And with a soft pop a Duplicate appeared beside him..... But there was not a Duplicate Reggie. 

 He tried it again, and the same result, a new Multi Man but no Reggie.  The Doctor thought that may be Reggie was a much too complicated Machine to reproduce.  Lee said he had never found a non living thing or  machine he could not recreate. He said he had reproduced cars, aeroplanes and even a space rocket in the past.

The Doctor then realised that although Reggie was a Machine, his Cybernetic Brain was based on a mix of a living breathing  Dog and a Six Year Boy. So in theory Reggie  could be classed as a living being. He was a machine that had artificial living Brain. This made sense. The Doctor said there were many Alien races out in  the Universe that were non biological, but could be classed as Alive.  Reggie was unique, so could be classed as a life form too. 

" I am part the original Reggie, and part Johnny Quest " Reggie announced proudly.

Reggie smiled and remembered that Summer he and Radley had stayed at Quest Lab's.

Lee apologised for not being able to help. He then asked the Doctor what he originally wanted him to Duplicate ?. The Doctor held up the Flex that had been taken off of the Vacuum Cleaner, "I need some more of this"  he said.

Lee smiled and holding up his arm gestured to the Doctor to throw it over to himself.  Which the Doctor did as if he has tossing a hoop. 

" Hoop - La " Laughed Lee on catching it. He laughed again and with that  one of his Duplicates appeared hold a copy of the Flex. 

" Will this do ? " Asked Lee

The Doctor nodded and said " Yes, Thank You "

 Lee lead that duplicate to the far corner of the room and asked him to sit down to avoid either damaging himself or being reabsorbed in error.  If that happened the Copied Flex would disappear. Then  he went over to the other Duplicates and reabsorbed them into himself as they were not needed.

The Doctor continued working on attaching the Time Scoop to Reggie's internal systems, at times asking Lee to duplicate other items.

Then he announced he needed some thing made of metal that could withstand great heat. 

" Doctor ? " came a questioning voice, it was Jack

" Doctor will this do ?" he continued holding up  his Umbrella. 

Jack then held the umbrella out to one side and pressed the special button on the handle and it transformed into his beloved Katana.

The Impossibles all gasped, as they had never seen the Katana only the Blue Umbrella. 

" It's so beautiful " Exclaimed Walter

Then The Doctor spoke up " No, No. Its too dangerous. It could get damaged or destroyed. You could loose it forever ! ".... " I will not let you risk it "  The Doctor continued a little bit flustered. 

" No wise Doctor, I offered it to you before back in the Meeting Room. I offer it to you again today. If it will save my friend Reggie, it is worth the risk " Jack said in a soft whisper laying it on the floor in front of The Doctor,  and bowing.

" I accept the offer " The Doctor replied, " But I do not like it " he continued

From what the Doctor had learnt in his short time of knowing the Samurai named Jack , was that in certain cases it was worthless arguing with him. The Doctor accepted this kind gift and picked it up and prepared to connect it the the Time Scoop.

Then from out side the room there was a terrific crash.

" What was that ? " said a startled Manny.

" You don't think Timeatron had brought another person from the past as a back up plan ?" said Phooey

" I am not sure, but it is possible " answered The Doctor.

  The Doctor asked Phooey and Jack to investigate. He at first thought  about sending The Impossibles,  but dressed in their colourful costumes that would draw to much attention to themselves. They were at this point in their Super Hero careers unknown  to most people.

Jack and Phooey quickly exited the room on their way to investigate the noise.

What will they find ? 

Had Timeatron brought someone else from the past to help him ?

If so who,  or what was it ?

YESTERDAYS HEROES ONCE MORE Part Eighty Seven...... Enter Johnny Ringo !

The Doctor and Reggie had narrowly survived their encounter with Timeatron.  Whilst The Doctor was concerned with how Reggie was looking after absorbing some of  the Evil Time Lords regenerative energy. He thought it would be good to have a few minutes rest before they set off in search of the Gun man Johnny Ringo. He patted the Mechanical Mutt and found Reggie to be much hotter than he normally was or should be.  This was a worry for the Doctor, could Reggie's Cybernetic Circuits be in a case of overloading? .... if so what would happen.  Reggie's eyes and nose still had a strange yellow glow about them

As the Doctor and Reggie tried to settle themselves after the events that had happened within  Timeatron's time capsule the double doors  behind them that lead back outside to the main corridor burst open.

 This startled them both, and after turning around they could see  it  was  Phooey and Jack. However they both looking a little flustered. 

"Hello Boys, we found the Monk, have  you had any luck finding  Johnny Ringo ? " Said The Doctor happy to see his friends again. Phooey and Jack did not reply, they remained silent.

Then from behind Jack and Phooey deep voice said " NO, I found them first !"  A figure dressed in Black stepped forward and stood behind Jack and Phooey.... It was Johnny Ringo and he was pointing both of his revolvers directly at them. 

Ringo then pushed the two forward into the room. As they walked forward Ringo spoke again.

" Stick um up ! " He said looking directly at The Doctor.

Johnny  Ringo pushed Jack and Phooey yet again  and like the Doctor they raised their hands.  The Doctor glanced at Reggie and whispered " Good Dog" Reggie understood that he needed to remain in Dog Mode for the time being.   As Jack and Phooey walked into the room, Jack looked over at the Doctor and whispered " Sorry"

" Back up!" Shouted Ringo, and the foursome found themselves standing up against the Cabinet that was Timeatron's  disguised Time Capsule.

The four stood in silence, all of them looking at each other trying to find some way out of this situation they had got themselves in. The Doctor noticed that Reggie was nervously scratching his neck and collar with his left hind leg.  

"Looks like your Mutt got fleas" Laughed Ringo

 Fleas ?  thought Jack, could a Metal Dog really get fleas ?

Then Johnny Ringo entered the room fully and Kicked the Doors Closed behind him. 

Now they were trapped, and the only escape route was now being guarded by an outlaw with two revolvers.

"Where's the Old Guy  !,  is he in his Magic Box ?" Ringo barked looking at the Doctor.

The Doctor not wanting to give anything away just replied " If you mean this box behind us, its locked"  He said  " I do not think anyone is at home " he continued

" The Old Guy must have gone off somewhere, he does that lots " Ringo grunted.

Little did he know that Timeatron was safely lock inside. The Doctor knew that Timeatron was probably watching them all on his console screen, but was he able to communicate with  Ringo ?. If so  would he tell Ringo to get The Doctor's Key and let him out ?.

"Well we will have to wait until he comes back. Maybe then he will let me shoot one of you"  Ringo laughed pointing his guns at each one of the four in turn.

" When he bushwhacked me and brought me too this strange ranch, the Old Guy told me I could shoot anyone I wanted to. But had to get his permission first. "  Informed Ringo

Then he looked directly at Reggie, " But he did not say anything about Shooting Dawg's "

" Come here boy ! " Ringo said to Reggie

Reggie stayed put.

" You can't shoot my Dog, he has never hurt anyone " shouted the Doctor.  

The Doctor was unsure if Reggie's body could withstand a Gun Bullet or not. at such close range? And if any permanent  damage had been caused after being exposed to Timeatron's energy burst, would that affect Reggie being able to protect himself ?. 

"Come here !" Ringo commanded again

Reggie stood up and slowly walked forward until he was standing in front of his friends, and a little way away from the Gunslinger. 

Then Reggie stood up on his hind legs and raised his front paws in the air.

Ringo laughed and said " Get ready to go to Doggie Heaven boy ! "

But before Ringo could shoot " Reggie opened his mouth and said " No one is shooting anyone today Mr Ringo "

The shock of hearing this Dog speak startled Ringo for a second. Reggie then roared like a Lion..Ringo was even more startled when a panel on Reggie's chest opened and a strange Red and Silver Horse Shoe shaped metal thing sprung out.

It was a Magnet.  A very powerful  Magnet. So powerful it tore both of Johnny Ringo's revolvers from his hands. 

Ringo stumbled back against the double doors behind him not believing what had happened.

Reggie retracted Magnet, and held the revolvers one in each paw.

Ringo snarled and shouted " Give them Back !"

" Nope ! " Reggie replied with  a giggle.

Ringo Growled like a Bear and as he prepared  to spring forward and retrieve his Two  Revolvers Reggie Shouted " You can come in now Boys !"

There was a Shout  from outside of  " RALLY HO ! " and then the Double Doors behind Johnny Ringo burst opening hitting him in the back throwing him forward. Reggie quickly side stepped the charging Outlaw, as did the others.

As Ringo flashed passed Jack, he held out his "umbrella" and tripped him up, this resulted in Ringo head butting  the door of Timeatron's Time Capsule.  A dazed Johnny Ring turned around to see Phooey standing in front of him.

" Good Night Mr Ringo ! " Phooey sniggered as he gave Johnny Ringo one of his famous Hong Kong Phooey Chops to his neck.

And with that The Outlaw slid down the cabinet door and passed out on the floor.

From the Door Way the Doctor noticed that The Impossible's where in full Super Hero Costumes.

"Quickly, come in before someone spots you " The Doctor said waving his hands.  

The Imp's all entered and shut the door after themselves.  They could see that Phooey and Jack had found some cord and were tying up Johnny Ringo who was still unconscious. They had sat him up against the wooden box. 

The Doctor welcomed the Imp's shaking each by the hand. This was the first time that the Doctor or his group had  actually seen the Impossibles dressed in their costumes. 

The Doctor smiled and uttered " Very Colourful. " 

 Fluid Man aka Walter held up the Transmitter that the Doctor had given him earlier back at the Hotel.

" Good thing that you gave us this, otherwise we would not have heard you were in trouble " Said Walter.

"yes, I suspected that when Reggie was scratching himself earlier on, he was trying to contact you " said the Doctor.

"Yes, we heard the whole conversation and when Reggie said NO ONES SHOOTING ANYONE TODAY MR RINGO ! we knew that you had found Johnny Ringo and came running to rescue you "  added Manny aka Coil Man

" Did I do good ?" asked a smiling Mechanical Mutt

" You did very good my friend " He looked around at everyone. " You all make a pretty good team " he added.

Then Jack and Phooey told the group how they had located Johnny Ringo by using the Spent Bullet casing that Jack had found in the Kitchen. Phooey said his keen sense of smell had helped them find Ringo.  He Joked that he was part Blood Hound on his Mothers side. Everyone laughed except Jack, He did not get the Joke.

They had allowed themselves to captured by Ringo as they knew that it may help them locate the Monk. It was a risky and maybe a foolish thing to do, but it had worked. 

Then the Doctor told them about the Monk, and that he was in fact a Time Lord like himself called Timeatron.  That he was using an illegal instrument to transport people and things from the past to help he steal things he needed to help repair his time machine. 

Then the Doctor asked Reggie to show then the device.

Reggie snorted then coughed and the ball shaped device appeared in his mouth.

As he coughed his nose and eyes started to glow brighter,

The Doctor also explained that at present Timeatron was locked inside the Big Box that stood in the  Room and would not be able to escape. He could stay there until after they had completed their mission. He said that he would fill in all the details of their time with Timeatron later on back at his Mobile HQ that he called The Tardis.

The Doctor was concerned about Reggie, as his eyes and nose were still glowing.  A lot  brighter than before.  He said he should really get him back to the Tardis, so that he could run some tests.

But before that he knew they  had to do something about Johnny Ringo. Who would not automatically return to his own time period for at least another 24 hours.  He was far too dangerous for them to leave him alone at the stadium, even tied up some one could find him and release him.

So many problems that needed solving.

What will happen next   ?
