ROBIN THE BOY WONDER

When Richard John (Dick) Grayson's family were murdered by a gang boss wanting to extort money from a travelling circus that employed them, he started on the road to becoming the crime fighting partner of The Bat-Man.

As the youngest member of the acrobatic "FLYING GRAYSON'S " the now orphaned Dick would soon become the legal ward of Bruce Wayne aka The Bat-Man. Bruce Wayne seeing another person like himself, orphaned at a young age, the result of murder, believed that he should step in to help the youngster. However, after Dick discovered Bruce was in fact The BAT-MAN he petitioned his guardian to join him in his fight against Crime in Gotham City. Bruce reluctant to allow his ward to face the same danger as himself felt that the Dick needed some thing to help channel the anger and frustration he had as a result of his parents untimely death into a positive cause.

After a lot of training Dick Grayson became Robin The Boy Wonder...... and along side The BAT-MAN, they became known as the Dynamic Duo.

A NEW CRIME FIGHTER COMES TO TOWN.

Robin's original costume was slightly different to the one he would later wear.  His Tunic and boots would later be refined. Also The Bat-Man 's look also was now refined to a less scary one. Again this costume would remain more or less the same for many year afterwards.

However, the costume was soon updated and during the rest of Dick Grayson's time of being Robin, his look and costume remained more or  less the same.

Robin Made his Debut in 1940 in Detective Comics #38.

HE CAME FROM OUTER SPACE.....

Hair-os was born from a race of Space Hounds called the ETERN-HOWLS.  He had been raised on the  Moon called Titan or Tit-hound to the locals,  that is in orbit around the Planet Saturn.  The Etern-Howls of Tit-hound spend their time in scientific study and in ways of furthering their knowledge of the Universe. These Saturn based Etern-howls were the cousins of the earth bound Etern-howls of old.

However,  one of their race...  FANGOS, brother to Hair-os wanted more. Unlike the other Etern-howls who looked like the most perfect and beautiful beings in the Universe, FANGOS was born different and deformed. His fur and skin was dark as was his manner.  Unlike his fellow Etern-howls he did not want to better himself in a way he could help others.  He only wanted to better himself so he could destroy and conquer others.  As a result of his lust for power he attacked his own people killing many. One of which was his mother. Fangos is a complicated character who I will be looking at some time in the future.   BUT for now Back to the STAR- FOX TERRIER

DEAR BROTHER FANGOS

Hair-os had originally meet the avenging hounds many years before when he along with the original Canine MUTT-VELL  battled his brother Fangos.    Later when his friend Mutt-Vell died from Cancer on Tit-hound he promised his dying friend he would look after Mutt-vell's mate Healy-sius. However, Hair-os was a creature with a short attention span, and eventually he decided to seek out new life , and civilisations and in his quest for FUN ended up on Earth.


Not knowing much about earth culture he made a bee line to the home of The Avenging Hounds in New Yorkie City.

The Chairperson at the time, Janet Van Dog, the Waspish Pooch agreed that Hair-os could join the team, as an Avenging Hound in training...... and the first thing she did was give him the CODE NAME   THE STAR FOX TERRIER .  The Hawk eyed Hound was at this time nursing a broken leg, so the Waspish Pooch knew the team was in need of an extra pair of paws to help out.  the Hawk eyed Hound was not too pleased to be side lined, but had to accept Janet's decision as the chairperson.

THE NOW CLASSIC AVENGING HOUNDS # 232 FROM  JUNE 1983

This Foxy Character would stay with the AV hounds for many months, and would add value to the team,  he did not take the news well that his friends name was now being used by the NEW female Canine Mutt-vell, but over the weeks that followed he saw that she was an good person and a great person to continue the name of a great fallen hero hound.   As time went on he again started to look for more exciting things to do, and eventually left the team to pursue NEBULL - DOGA the Space Pirate who he believed was the Grand-daughter of his Evil Brother Fangos.

Another new member next time.

ON THE 10TH DAY OF CHRISTMAS......... 2011

This time last year I posted my first dawgs picture on my site.   This was my version of the now famous XMEN 141 featuring  Wolverine and Kitty Pride. This was originally done as a Christmas Card  for my friends at my local comic store...... A PLACE IN SPACE.

As this proved so popular I continued doing more  CRAZY CLASSIC COVERS.  So here is my chance to show  some of them I have already posted, once again during my 12 Days of Christmas.

As the resolution is a little bit small I have re posted them again a bit bigger below.

FANTASTIC FOUR ISSUE 49 # OR IS IT........ ?

Here is my latest crazy cover which this time relates to that CLASSIC COVER of the Fantastic Four issue 49 which introduced the world devourer GALACTUS and featured his herald the SILVER SURFER. Both had appeared in issue 48#  but this was the BIG G's main introduction into the Marvel Comic world.

Well in my "Dawgs World"  the Heroes are called the FUR-TASTIC FOUR, the Planet Muncher is DOG-ALACTUS and his Herald Hound is The SILVER SNIFFER.

DISNEY DO WELL......... HERE'S PLUTO

Mickey's  faithful four legged friend Pluto has been by his masters side since....... 1930  ( so he is over 81 years old..... which means in dog years he is knocking on 567 years ! )

Original known as ROVER he was soon renamed  PLUTO the PUP. ( but you can call him plain old PLUTO these days) .   Originally just a supporting character, he would later go on to star in many of his own cartoon film adventures.

Here we have Buddy doing his best to impersonation of  the Disney Dog himself PLUTO

I needed to redo this as my original was to small to enlarge without loosing much of the resolution

ULT-TAIL-ON TAKES A BRIDE PART THREE

Ult-tail-on began the process of Building his new "MATE".  He constructed her from materials similar to what his latest body had been constructed from. Like himself he used the rare metal ADMUTT-ANIUM which would make her as indestructible as he was.

ASSEMBLING HIS NEW MATE

He gave his new creation a name...... JAW-CASTA..... but was unable to give her "LIFE".   For that he would need the assistance of his " Father and his Mother ".

Having been able to play with the mind of his creator in the past, Ult-tail-on manipulated Hairy Pym to forget most of his recent life.  In fact he regressed him back to a time long before Dr  Hairy Pym had built the first mark one Ult-tail-on, he regressed his mind back to a time when the AVENGING HOUNDS had first formed.  Hairy Pym believed he was still ANT-PUP.

BUT before Ult-tail-on could now use him to help complete Jaw-casta,    ANT-PUP disappeared.  Although it is uncertain if The Robotic Mutt sent his father back to the AVENGING HOUNDS MANSION on purpose, it certainly helped with  ULT-TAIL-ON'S plans. He had now recruited his DADDY, now he needed his MUMMY TOO !,,,,, and Hopefully ANT-PUP would lead him to her,


ANT-PUP arrived at the Mansion expecting to see his team of AVENGING HOUNDS.... IRON HOUND.... THE MUTTY PAW..... THE HOUNDED HULK and THE WASPISH POOCH.   All he found were some strangely dressed strangers standing in a partly destroyed mansion.  (THE AVENGING HOUNDS had Just battled the GRIM REAP-HOUND in a battle to save the lives of both The VIZ-HOUND & WONDER DAWG....but that's a different story for another time)

Not knowing who these strangers were he demanded to know this, and WHY were they in the Mansion.  Not being in full control of his emotions, Hairy Pym did not want to listen to the lies from these fake AVENGING HOUNDS.  Where were his friends, and where was his partner THE WASPISH POOCH. The Guy in the Red & Gold Armour claimed to be IRON HOUND, but this could not be true, his IRON HOUND wore GOLDEN ARMOUR, and The Joker in the Canine America Uniform was also a fake, as everyone knew The Sent-Hound of Liberty had disappeared years ago and was now either dead or a very old Dawg.


Before The Scarlet Bitch could explain any more, ANT-PUP ATTACKED.

THE CLASSIC AVENGING HOUNDS 161 #





Ant-Pup engaged each of the unknown foes with the aid of his army of ants,  Unprepared for the attack by their friend and fellow Avenging Hound, The SCARLET BITCH, THE VIZ-HOUND CANINE AMERICA, THE BARK PANTER AND WONDER DAWG  ALONG WITH IRON HOUND all fell victim to the pint sized attacker. 

However, before ANT-PUP to take the victory cheer, He was hit  by an energy blast from behind.   He fell and passed out.  His attacker  then showed themselves.   It was his wife   JANET VAN DOG - PYM the Waspish Pooch.

A NEW ROSTER WITH ISSUE 221 #

So my crazy covers week finishes in style, here is a brand new cover finished this week.  A few of the charactors  I had already drawn in the past, so they needed a small bit of up dating, but on the whole all the other  ones were drawn from scratch.

The new logo was attempt 3 to get something that looked good and fitting in with the original look of the issue.   I really liked how this turned out.

Again this is a complete redraw of the original, and apart from including a visible invisible pooch, the cover is the same.

One of my favouriteNEW  Dawgs seen here, is my DOG-TOR STRANGE , and you will be seeing more of him next week.

IT'S ALL CHANGE WITH AVENGING HOUNDS 16#

When all of the original founders of the Avengers left to pursue their own lives, it  was up to Captain America to round up a new team. This change of roster became a big part of the Avengers Stories in years to come.  AND with most team changes the covers would reflect this.

Here is the original of the cover to Avengers issue 16 along with my Avenging Hounds Version that I post a few weeks ago.

Again I have gone back and made a few changes to my original cover, mainly my Buddy Dawg usually had the same overall look. As Captain America was originally holding his shield, I decided to have Canine America do the same.  So I gave Buddy an Arm.  Also I revised my look of some of the back ground characters, mainly the Vill-Hounds that I had re drawn during  my Bad Dogs Themed Week

AVENGING HOUNDS issue 4# The Return of the CANINE

Here is a updated version of a cover already posted....  Not much different with the original post other than a new colour palette to match  with the original cover from the 1960's , and up dated eyes for my Dawgs.

I decided against copying the shield on the original cover, as this was drawn slightly wrong, but most of the other elements are faithfully reproduced.  

This was a very important comic, as it was the first time Canine America appeared in the modern day world.

THE AVENGING HOUNDS 1# REVISTED

My version of the classic Avengers number 1# was the first copy cover that was completely re drawn.  Although I did use bits of the original Avengers title logo, most of it had to be redrawn to fit in with the changes I did to the title name.

Here is the original, along with my initial mock up version, that I used to see what went where etc.  Note that I corrected the colours to Loki's costume as they are slightly wrong on the original.

But as I was trying to reproduce the original cover, I amened them back for my final cover. The Lower cover is slightly updated from how I originally presented it.  Paw now holds his Hammer, and the Hounded Hulk now has a more flat head, as he was shown on the original.   I wanted to make a few changes to the Iron Hound Armour, BUT I felt that this would mean a complete redraw, and frankly I would rather spend time drawing new covers, to waste it re working something that I already did. However, I will be doing a re do on The Hounded Hulk to go along with my next weeks project.  Also Today I finished a NEW Avenging Hounds Cover.  That will be listed later this week.

TALES OF SUSPENSE 39 A TAIL OF IRON

Today's cover is new to my BLOG, I did it ORIGINALLY ages ago, just after the first time I did my version of Iron Man or as I say Iron Hound

The original comic dates back to 1963 (so its as old as me) and was the very first appearance of Marvels Iron Man,

This was one of the very first covers I did completely with lettering etc.  Although if I did it now I would have done it slightly differently, but I think it looks OK.

Just before blogging this picture I noticed that although I had updated the eyes on  Buddy Iron Hound, The Cover still gave reference to The FANTASTIC FUR, as mentioned yesterday, I now call them The FUR-TASTIC FOUR, so I made a quick alteration, so no NO PRIZES to my readers

FANTASTIC FUR OR FUR-TASTIC FOUR ?

One of the very first "copy" covers I did was of Fantastic Four 181, from way back in 1970's .... It was not a really great story, but the cover looked easy to reproduce.... Plus the Thing saying  " IT'S CLOBBERIN' TIME " worked well worth my DAWGS Theme.  IT'S SLOBBERIN'  TIME ! still makes me laugh;

Some of my earlier work, used some different types of drawing of dogs.   I used these mainly for my DC DAWGS, as I felt they worked better with the BAT - FANG cartoons I was doing originally.
This cover was originally  done as a Xmas card for friends. 


BUT recently I went back to my FANTASTIC FUR cover, and re did it with my BUDDY style DAWGS, that I tend to use more these days.   I feel that "BUDDY" works well with The Marvel Universe of characters.

Although its the same cover, I did make some changes, and now its MORE like the original cover. Also I re named "MY" characters the FUR-TASTIC FOUR as in hindsight I think that name is better. Also it keeps from confusing my readers, think of it as an Alternative Universe.   The comic people do it all the time after all.

So Here is me ripping off my own work, which originally was me ripping off some one else    !

THIS WEEK WE RETURN TO THE AVENGING HOUNDS

As any follower of my Blog knows the Avenging Hounds are made up of  PAW.  the Dog of Thunder, IRON HOUND,  The GIANT DAWG,  &  WASPISH POOCH. Their other member, The HOUNDED HULK resigned from the Avenging Hounds as he was not really a team player. 

Anyway, soon after the Heroes set up home in their New Yorkie Manson a new hero came floating by.
It was the legend of WW2 ( World Woof 2 ) the CANINE AMERICA

He was believed dead,  but had really ended up frozen in a  Block of ICE for the last few decades.  The Avenging Hounds offered him a place on the team and a place to stay whilst he tried to get this life back together. 

Well The Star Spangled Canine fitted in well with the team, and even was asked to be team leader, due to his knowledge of battle and tactical fighting know how.

However, the Other Avenging Hounds soon found that they could not afford to be hero hounds 24/7.  Paw had  problems in his home realm of Ass-Dog that needed addressing, also in his other identify as Dr Donald Bark, he also needed to sort some things out.   Boney Stark aka The Iron Hound, was having trouble with his business empire, and he needed to spend more time in the office.   Dr Hairy Pym also wanted to spend time on his research, something that he was unable to do whilst being the size changing Giant Dawg.   His partner Janet Van Dog also felt she needed a break from the hero life as she had nearly dead on a number of occasions whilst on duty with the Avenging Hounds., and she was not sure if the hero life as really for her after all.


What would that mean for the future of the AVENGING HOUNDS.   IF 4 OF THE 5 MEMBERS WANTED TO LEAVE.... Could The CANINE AMERICA manage on his OWN ?

XMEN 87 # IN DOGGIE STYLE

All this week I have shown you how the original X Mutts ( XMEN ) got a costume make over in the late 1960's.

well here is my version of the classic X Men issue 87#   BUT in my Dawggie Style.

3 slightly different versions and the original.   I have been asked before, but will again confirm that MY VERSIONS are completely re drawn and I do not use any elements from the original ( except the theme of course )   I also try to use the same colour pallet from the Original, as in the bottom picture if possible.

Welcome to my 1st Blog

Well after a lot of prompting from friends etc, I had decided to share with you some of the crazy drawing I have been doing over the last few years.    The idea is original, ( I HOPE )  but I do admit I do borrow at times from others.  This blog is meant to be fun
