KARA ZOR- ELTHE SUPERGIRL OF FASHION PART SEVEN DEATH IN THE SUPERMAN FAMILY

Although the Supergirl Movie may not have reached the standards and profits or the Superman films, this did not affect the popularity of the Maid of Might in the eyes of the DC readers.  However, there was a Crisis on the horizon. Supergirl would continue fighting crime in her Rah Rah Skirt and Head Band until 1985.

The Head Banded Super Girls days were numbered.

The DC Chiefs had decided that the DC community of characters had become too large and too complicated.  The word RE BOOT had never been used or heard of in comics, but this was all about to change.

In 1985 a mini series was launched that would run for 12 issues and have tie ins to all the other published comics by DC. The Story CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS, would finally allow  DC a chance to wipe the slate clean and start again.  They planned to keep some characters, combine some and remove some characters from existence.

The result was some Heroes and villains had to be sacrificed in order to make the reboot work. One of which was Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl. ........ But Surprisingly her Earth Two counterpart Karen Starr aka Kara Zor -L aka POWER GIRL would survive the Crisis....... But would no longer be a Kryptonian and therefore not a true version of Supergirl..... but more about Power Girl at another time.

Sacrificing herself to save others Supergirl died in issue 7 # of Crisis on Infinite Earths.  Another Death that rocked the DC world was Barry Allen aka The Flash, but again his death would be remaindered by all.  Unlike some characters Kara's Death would be known to the surviving world, but this was not the case for all heroes, some of which would simplify disappear and be forever forgotten in DC continuity. Like Helena Wayne aka THE HUNTRESS of  Earth Two, Kathy Kane the Original BAT-WOMAN, two of the many popular characters that simply did not fit in the new world order.

Here is my take on a classic comic event.

THE DEATH OF SUPERGIRL

KARA ZOR-EL AKA SUPERGIRL 1958 - 1985
Although we all know that Super Heroes never really die, for some the this was the end of the one true Super Girl.

Next time a NEW SUPER GIRL takes to the Air !

Until then ENJOY.
