THE RETURN OF THE BAT-WOMAN

As the popularity of  the 2nd Batgirl grew, her adventures had started to take her to places other than Gotham City. On one of her adventures during the 1970's Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl investigated a mystery involving a Circus. This lead to her  meeting its owner Miss Katherine Kane, the now retired BAT-WOMAN.

In an adventure which involved The Super Hero Group , The Freedom Fighters along with Batgirl and a out of retirement  Batwoman, in an updated costume,  comic book fans soon demanded more BATWOMAN.

An ALL NEW Bat-woman & BatGirl TEAM

So over the next few years, The Bat-Woman appeared along with other members of the Bat-man Family. BUT no such reunion with niece and her original partner The Original Bat-Girl, aka Betty Kane.

Betty had also been brought out of retirement and had been seen in the pages of the Teen Titans along with her "Boy-friend" Robin. However, although she had been the First Bat-Girl, the public and readers had all but forgotten her, and her time in the spot light was cut short when the Teen Titans comic was cancelled. Big plans had been considered that both her and Duela Dent aka The Harlequin would be in  competition for Robin's affection. BUT this never happened due to cancellation.

THE LATE TEENAGER VERSIONS OF ROBIN & BAT-GIRL

Whilst Betty Kane would live on again after the Crisis, and be reborn at Flame Bird, poor old Kathy Kane would be killed off when she was murdered, long before the Crisis hit the DC Publications.

Although The Bat-Woman was dead in the DC Universe, she did live on.  Kathy Kane would appear  again as a character from Earth 2.

Here as a look at the various different versions of Kathy Kane's Bat-Woman costume worn from the 1950's through to the 1970's

THE EVOLUTION OF THE BAT-WOMAN COSTUME

Next time we will have a look at The Bat-man Family that existed on the parallel world that was called Earth 2.

Until then ENJOY !
